Anybody else noticed the Freeview EPG wasn't available on the TVNZ MUX tonight (6pm) from Waiatarua? Wouldn't work on my Sony TV or Panasonic Recorder. Was working OK on the TV3 MUX though.Continue

"My Panasonic did the same recently and has also done so occasionally in the past. Was set to record One on series link and it recorded 1+1. No conflicts and no reason it should have. I'm pretty sure it's caused by glitches in the EPG.…"

Biggles replied to David Edmunds's discussion powering LNB
"Yes. You should be able to measure the voltage out from the STB on the co-ax. It should be 18v for Horizontal polarisation (Freeview/Sky) and 13v for vertical polarisation. As far as I can tell only the feed channels on Optus D1 are vertical. Their…"

Biggles replied to David Edmunds's discussion powering LNB
"Thanks Willis. I didn't know that as I can't find a circuit for one anywhere. For once google isn't my friend. So all that's needed then is a 3 way all port power pass filter and turn on LNB supply in all decoders? Still…"
Wednesday
Biggles replied to David Edmunds's discussion powering LNB
"Problematical. You need to make sure that the 3 way splitter is power pass on all ports but you should really only power the LNB by one device at a time. That means of course that either one box must be on all the time (others with LNB power set to…"

Biggles replied to Lesley's discussion Dish TV S8300 - Poor Picture Quality, Not Hi Def
"Freeview Sat is only SD picture quality. If you had Sky you may have been getting TVNZ and Three in HD if you had an HD ticket. What you are getting now on satellite is as good as it gets."

Biggles replied to Arthur Wright's discussion Different splitters
"OK. Only difference is number of ports and only a single power pass port on the Hills."
Saturday
Biggles replied to Arthur Wright's discussion Different splitters
"Well the 07MM-TM13 is a Sat splitter with all ports power pass. Can't find any specs on the other but suspect it's either VHF/UHF (not suitable for Sat) or only one power pass port. Got a photo of it? The VHF/UHF splitters are only good to…"

Biggles replied to Lance's discussion Hard-drive Format Issue
"OK so power is not a problem but FAT32 only supports up to 2tb basic drives. You'll need to partition the drive to 2tb max. I don't know if the STB will support 2 x 1.5tb partitions on a USB HDD. They all seem to be rather fussy on…"

"There's also a problem with USB Powered HDDs as on most STBs they often just don't have enough current capability to power it satisfactorily. It's always advisable to use external power for external USB HDDs unless the box it's…"

Biggles replied to Gary Healey's discussion Database empty / No signal
"Hard to say what's wrong without looking at the setup but it sounds like the box has failed. You are correct that the LNB is OK if Sky still works. When you tried setting up the new box did you make sure all the settings were correct. It may be…"

I couldn't do an autotune on the T2200 cos I had no service! Anyway I just whizzed out and bought an HDMI lead and it worked. The guy at Noel Leeming told me none of the FreeviewPlus-approved recorders come with HDMI cables, which is a bit rich when they sell for $400 upwards. Thanks for your help.

Thanks Biggles. So why does the Aerial Box come with AV leads and no HDMI cable?
