Anybody else noticed the Freeview EPG wasn't available on the TVNZ MUX tonight (6pm) from Waiatarua? Wouldn't work on my Sony TV or Panasonic Recorder. Was working OK on the TV3 MUX though.Continue

Biggles replied to Jeremy E's discussion RT on Freeview?
"Probably not offered due to lack of a market for it. To be honest I'd never heard of it til I saw your post. There's also limited bandwidth available though they could easily dump all the +1 channels which are all SD and AAC2 sound.…"

Biggles replied to Matto's discussion Loss of Prime Reception regularly
"Wow. Bit of a rat's nest! If you had a masthead amp there would be a power plugpack somewhere feeding power for it up the co-ax. What you have at the top is more likely a diplexer connecting the VHF and UHF antennae together. Ideally you need…"

Biggles replied to Matto's discussion Loss of Prime Reception regularly
"Is the Amp necessary? What happens if you remove it and just use a decent UHF splitter? If you have to use an amp it should ideally be at the masthead, not in the cupboard."

"The Freeview coverage maps show their location and coverage. https://freeviewnz.tv/faq-library/about-digital-tv/coverage-maps/ The previous link I posted gives frequencies, location and polarisation. Only hard one to find is Power and you should be…"

"Ah. The joy of living in the fringes. As you have a UHF strength meter first thing I'd do is check the signal strength for each mux. Sounds like the TVNZ mux has dropped just below minimum reception level. Could be any number of reasons but the…"

Biggles replied to Lilbay809's discussion Satellite Dish Elevation
"Because the dishes have the LNB offset and not at the central focal point. That's why they seem to be at quite a different angle. Think of the Dish as a mirror.  If the dish is at around 15 degrees then the LNB will be looking at around 45…"

"My Panasonic did the same recently and has also done so occasionally in the past. Was set to record One on series link and it recorded 1+1. No conflicts and no reason it should have. I'm pretty sure it's caused by glitches in the EPG.…"

Biggles replied to David Edmunds's discussion powering LNB
"Yes. You should be able to measure the voltage out from the STB on the co-ax. It should be 18v for Horizontal polarisation (Freeview/Sky) and 13v for vertical polarisation. As far as I can tell only the feed channels on Optus D1 are vertical. Their…"

Biggles replied to David Edmunds's discussion powering LNB
"Thanks Willis. I didn't know that as I can't find a circuit for one anywhere. For once google isn't my friend. So all that's needed then is a 3 way all port power pass filter and turn on LNB supply in all decoders? Still…"
Apr 18
Biggles replied to David Edmunds's discussion powering LNB
"Problematical. You need to make sure that the 3 way splitter is power pass on all ports but you should really only power the LNB by one device at a time. That means of course that either one box must be on all the time (others with LNB power set to…"

I couldn't do an autotune on the T2200 cos I had no service! Anyway I just whizzed out and bought an HDMI lead and it worked. The guy at Noel Leeming told me none of the FreeviewPlus-approved recorders come with HDMI cables, which is a bit rich when they sell for $400 upwards. Thanks for your help.

Thanks Biggles. So why does the Aerial Box come with AV leads and no HDMI cable?
