we lost signal on our old receiver so got a new one and a new LNB because the old one got water inside but we only get Chinese/religious/optustest/SKYtest ect. but no freeview channels. Signal strength is at about 73 % and Quality up to 93%. We tried an other LNB and cable but nothing. What could it be?

Check you polarisation is Horizontal.

it is

seems your dish has moved west

see if it comes right with someone nudging it east slightly

Hi

From what you have provided, looks like your satellite dish is aligned to one that does not retain Freeview Satellite Channels. You will need to realign to a satellite called Optus D1 and you will be able to find out where the line of sight is via our website http://www.dishtv.co.nz/information/satellite-finder.htm

Enter in your address and a line will appear showing you where the Satellite Dish needs to be pointed, Take note of the Elevation and Azimuth if you are getting someone to do this for you or leave it up the local installer.

Once the Satellite Dish is aligned correctly, rescan your Dish TV box and you will gain the Freeview Channels.

Kind Regards

I agree. Your dish would appear to be pointing at Optus D2 (foreign language channels) instead of Optus D1(Sky and Freeview).

Might be a good idea to get a Pro to come and align the Dish and check the installation.

Hey, thanks for your help. We have turned the satellite Dish in the direction the satellitefinder showed us and in the TV menu under satellite scan it shows the optus D1 (160E) with a strength of 73% and quality of 98 % but the only thing we get is SKY Test. Its so frustrating

I believe that the dish is still pointing at Optus D2 , I cant pick-up the Sky test pattern on my S7070r pointing at Optus D1, the  difference between D1 & D2 is a smalll adjustment so very easy for a novice to get the wrong satellite.

Have you got the LNB  skew correct ?

http://freeviewforum.co.nz/forum/topics/freeview-satellite-adjustin...

well keep turning as sky test is on optus d3 at 156 degrees and asian/religious on d2 at 152 degrees .freeview d1 at 160 deg  so your about 6 degrees too far west

there it goes :D Thanks. We thought Sky and Freeview comes from the same satellite. All good now, You are great

Sky and Freeview are on the same satellite - Optus D1.

It's good to learn something new each day! Glad to hear you have the Freeview Channels running! Enjoy!

P.S. Freeview and SKY channels run on the same satellite, SKY has a test slot on another satellite which is why you might be a little confused!

Cheers
