Good morning.  Last night I tried to record 2 programs and it came up with the error 2 code.  One was

The Color of war and the other was another one was another war documentary type.  I see that there is an issue with updates etc so I tried to set other programs and they work. I have tried the reset but it still wont record The colour of war for next Sunday.  What can I do to fix it please . everything else seems fine. Mike and Josie

  • INVESTIGATING CODE-2 ERRORS CHRISTCHURCH | 5pm 5 MAY Some recorders are exhibiting CODE-2 errors when scheduling in recordings. The manufacturer DISH TV is working with the network engineer to investigate and resolve this issue.

We are on waiheke island auckland. it is Dish tv sat box s7070r.  Thanks

The 7070 is only a single tuner recorder, To record more than one program you need a twin tuner like the DishTV7090

It was only one program at  time. One after the other.

Then that would be because of the program overlap times in the unit's setup (usually a few minutes by default). The end of one program overlaps the start time of the second so gives problems with single tuner units. If I want to record consecutive programs (even on my 2 tuner Panasonic) I use timer record for the consecutive programs so there's no overlap error.

As well as this post by Josie, I see there was a similar earlier one by Aileen (9 May).  The associated Network Status/Notice of Changes web page is still showing the status as "Investigating", but refers only to Dish TV and Homecast recorders. However, I too am having this problem, and my PVR is a MagicTV MTV3600TD.

I first noticed this 'code -2' problem a few days ago when trying to set up the recording of a programme on Prime, and have had the same issue with several attempts over the past few days.  I have also tried setting up random programmes on TV1 and TV3 to see if it is channel-dependent, but get the same error for all.

One point of interest though ... I have 6 programmes in my Recording list and all are now showing as 'No Episodes' (normally indicating a series has finished). However, one of these programmes is "The Crowd Goes Wild", and it is still recording daily as normal, so the system is still recognising it in spite of what the recording list says.

Finally, it may be a total red herring and I'm showing up my ignorance here, but I am in Whangarei, which apparently had a transmitter update by JDA recently - co-incidence only?

A code 2 error is usually associated with no signal, might pay to check your aerial if this is happening on all channels. The only scenario that a MTV should have a problem is when trying to record prime and 1 other program, or trying to record of TV1 and TV3 and then trying to watch Prime

Thanks SNM for your suggestions, but I can receive all of the channels and programmes OK 'live' - it's just recording that is the issue.  There is no channel conflict (Prime/TV1/TV3 etc.) with the recording - I'm not doing anything I haven't done a hundred times before.

Thanks anyway - I will bide my time and see if they come up with any suggestions re the DishTV recorder in case it is applicable to me too.

Have just checked again on the off-chance, and found that the recording on my Magic TV MTV3600TD is back to normal, i.e.:

- I have just successfully set up three new recordings in the usual way (off the EPG).

- the 'To Do' list is now correctly showing the next episode dates/times for both the newly added programmes  and the ones that last week had started showing as 'No episodes', even though they were still listed as on-going programmes in the EPG.

So, if someone, somewhere has got to the bottom of the problem and made a tweak, many thanks for that ... and if it has come right by itself, fingers crossed that there is no 'relapse'!

Hope the Dish TV and Homecast users have the same good result with their boxes.
