Like many, outside the Auckland/Northland, I was dissapointed to find that Hi Def on TV1 was limited to to the Auckland/Northland area.

But wait!! This is being transmitted by satellite so it should be able to be received all over the country.

And, yes it can!!. TV1 is transmitted four times over satellite. (Auckland, Waikato, Wellington and the South Island) This is only done so we all get appropriate regional advertising.... What a waste of bandwidth!!. And Sky don't do it..

So if you are outside the Auckland/Northland region just go and reset your Satellite decoder. When it askes whereabouts you are in  the country, just say Auckland and you will get TV1 in glorious HD.

Nice of the Freeview folks to tell us this...Not!. But I guess its very important for us outside Auckland to see our own regional advertising. I certainly have not noticed that I am not.
