ble is one of the very first coaxial cables (about 35 - 40 years old ??) and is definately not suitable for carrying a digital signal. In fact, you could find that most of your signal will dissipate away in an 8 to 10 metre length of it, because it doesn't have any "low loss" capabilities at all, and the inner core is braided, so it's very difficult to fit F connectors to it -(which you must use for digital!). - Chuck it out!
2002 cable came out after 3c/2v, then 2006 cable came out in the 1980s, and then RG59, which we started using in 1990 for the Sky UHF installations! RG6 cable came out when Sky started their satellite installations about 17 - 18 years ago.
Cheers Bill.

through my explanation and five things to check earlier in this thread, and Freeviewshop's additional information. It will probably be No 4. or No 4 (should be 5 - my mistake!).
Unfortunately 2 1/2 year old LNBs do break down sometimes, otherwise it will be your receiver - or could some settings in your receiver have been changed?
Taking your receiver to someone else's place, or plugging in another receiver at your place, will isolate it. BUT don't forget that you may have to change the L.O. setting from 10750 to 11300 (or vice versa) to get your receiver working on another dish, or another receiver to operate on your dish.
Cheers, Bill.

You will need to factory reset your DTVS Receiver and re tune everything again which is not a problem at all and easy to do! :)
On your Remote, go to the Menu
Then on the screen locate the Set Up or Installation Menu
Then Locate a Factory Reset or Reset option. Push that and enter your password which by default is 0000
Then Let the Box reset and re tune.
If you are still experiencing a few issues still, please let me know and provide the Model Number or type of Freeview Box you have i.e. Satellite or HD receiver and any other information.
Hope this Helps
Regards, Joshua.

Hi Joanne. Yes I'm in Timaru and lost all channels last night about 10.20pm. The network status on Freeview about Timaru had not been updated since the strong winds a few days ago (so yes, it was outdated & we do need a date/time on their network status').
The channels have just come back on this morning about 7.45ish. This new digital TV is really not living up to any of the hype of it being so wonderful. I do realise that Freeview is just the platform and that its JDA who are the transmitter but I really think they all need to get their service running effectively!! There are some very disgruntled customers out there.

!
I've been called out to about a dozen Strong receivers in the last few weeks (before the Prime drama), with all sorts of strange things happening - channels disappeared (Maori, Choice, etc), two TV 2+1 and no TV 1+1, channels breaking up, etc.
The problems all seem to have stemmed from 1st September when Freeview changed "U" to TV 2+1, then swapped TV2+1 and TV1+1 around, and it appears that some Strong receivers actually tried to change the channels around!! - even though they're not accredited units, - and got a few headaches as a result! (Strong recs are very, very good quality units - shame they're not accredited).
If that sounds like your problem, in each case I did a full power reset (pulled power plug out from wall for 30 secs), rescanned all the transponders, then sorted the channels again and every one of them came right.
Hope that might help you. - Otherwise buy a cheap sat box like you were thinking.
Cheers, Bill.…
r for another $120 to get the rest of freeview channels! Do l need to get a technicion to install the decoder? Biggles said:
Well if you want to continue to watch TV after 1 Dec your only options are Freeview or Sky. The old analogue channels will disappear then. There are around 24+ channels available on Freeview (depending on your location) including Radio so maybe you haven't found them all yet? Unless your installation was a satellite install then you may indeed have been ripped off. UHF antenna kits are currently available at around $50 and a STB from about $80. DIY and that's around $130 for an installation. A Sky installation is generally free but ongoing costs of around $46 per month minimum.

ich is specifically designed to amplify a weak signal at the aerial.
We are based in Hamilton and install a lot of masthead amplifiers around the Waikato, especially out west of Hamilton around Whatawhata and Ngahinapouri.
We've also found that, because the area is so far from the Te Aroha transmitter, the signal doesn't really "layer" very much out there, so raising the aerial a metre often makes no difference (unless its below a tree, etc).
Hi Toni,
Who installed your "brand new Aerial"? -Because if you paid an Installation Company, you should get them to come back and rectify it!
If you installed it yourself, then you need to get an installer to do a signal test all over your roof to find the spot with the strongest signal, then shift your aerial to that spot.
We don't charge a travel fee to go to Whatawhata so give us a call - Rainbow Connections 856-6846.
