't like.
Hi Warren,
I'm not sure where you got that information from, but it is COMPLETELY WRONG!
I was a Sky Installer for sixteen years, before leaving to go full-time installing Freeview, and have probably connected literally hundreds and hundreds of Freeview Satellite receivers to Sky dishes over the last seven years.
The problem with those Sky dual-throat LNBs, is that the L.O. (Local Oscillation) starts to wander after about five to six years use and they have to be replaced, because the I.F. (Intermediate Frequency) is calculated by taking away the L.O. from the T.F.(Transmission Frequency). So if the L.O. wanders the receiver can't lock onto the channels. - Nothing to do with a tone switch.
The tone switch is the 22Khz switch which is built into the Sky dual throat LNBs, to switch from one throat to another. - Sky were planning to use Optus C1 (now D3) in the future as a "backup" satellite, after B1 (now D1) accidentally went out of line (and as a consequence, Sky was down for three days) about 10 years ago.
Sky have never used that "backup", but if you turn the 22Khz switch on in any receiver connected to a Sky dish with a dual-throat LNB, you will start looking at Optus D3, and certainly won't get any Freeview channels off it.
Incidentally, it's LNB, not LMB = Low Noise Block Down-Converter!
Cheers, Bill.

ld be helpful as these discussions get lost - this discussion was started about EPG problems which is another issue also. Still think a lot of these problems only started since the Prime change on satellite as things were great before then. Look forward to hearing how you get on. Alan Douglas said:
Sue,
That sounds very interesting. I will give your scenario a try and report back. We may have to start a DishTV thread in these Forums. It will have to be a big one as there are lots of 'quirks' with these boxes.
The s7090 should not 'lock up' (But I have had mine do this a few times, but under different circumstances.)
I am not sure what the EPROM reset is. (Haven't had to do one of those!)
FYI. You can just hold the Power Button on the physical s7090 for about 10 seconds to get it to switch off when its locked up. You will still loose your recordings but it saves switching it off at the wall. (That is one of the many things that isn't in the manual.)
If you do go back and load an older firmware, if you can still get a copy, you can turn off the OTA upgrades via the Settings menu to stop it being upgraded.
Regarding the recording two channels and watching a third...... The caveat for this is that the channels must come from the same transponder on the satellite. This was the situation until Prime moved to a different transponder. If you are recording a program from Prime, one of the s7090's two tuners will be locked to the Prime transponder and this reduces your options on recording and viewing other channels. It still shouldn't lock up the s7090 when you swap around though.
I will have fun tonight trying out your scenario.
Alan

I also have a Kaon receiver -- and following these instructions I was able to retune Prime -- so many thanks . -- I am so not very tech savvy!!!
Now I am wondering if I am able to get the new channels, Duke, HGTV and Bravo.
Any help out there?

he TV has component inputs.
Biggles said:
IMO RF may be the easiest but not the best way. Usually results in a terrible picture quality.
I would connect the Sat Box to the Tv using component cables (red, green blue, red, white) and to the DVD via the composite (yellow red, white) cables. This will give best available picture on the TV. The recorder will need to be selected to AV input to record (and to see on the TV what's being recorded). The Recorder should remain connected to the TV via the composite (yellow, red, white) cables.

ation SNM.
I did a retune recently and have no further problems. Looks like the problem, for us, lay with the fibre cable from Blenheim.
I shall just sit back now, patiently waiting for more channels to be added. Hopefully not more shopping or religious.
Cheers

ed OK to let the unit do its thing. The Satellite Scan screen was displayed, but no scanning was happening. Both the Strength and Quality bars where showing NO signal. The processing indicator was rotating but after 10 minutes there was no change to the screen.
I pressed BACK to exit out back to live TV. Within seconds the message about added frequencies was displayed again. I pressed OK again and this time everything worked. I had lots of Strength and Quality and all the channels, including the new test channels, were found OK. Yeah!
Probably a bug (NO! Not another one.) in the machines firmware.
Motto: Try try again.
On a different note. Why is TRACKSIDE still in my channel list?? It should have been removed ages ago. Very slack.

to the new house, I can't get the reception.
Which means, I really have to get the dang UHF aerial pointed in the right direction. Blast. Need a really tall ladder. 2 stories high. sigh.
…
could have either so if you toggle either freq and see if you get a signal as your box would have the previous settings from your last satellite dish.
I tried both & it still came up with tuning failed
i reset to factory settings last night hoping it would work

immerton and several months here, until a few weeks ago.
I tried to contact Freeview but the forum seemed to be the only way. Waited several days before my membership was approved. Is there a direct way to talk to Freeview?

You don't say what area you are in. Here in Waikanae there is no problem at all. Are you using a satellite or UHF antennae?
I would say that the problem has nothing to do with the Chromecast. More like an issue at the freeview end of things.
