Murphys law. No reception at all right now, not even for a few seconds so....strength and quality both 0% Weird thing is...I have another satellite dish (its a cheap freeview one not a sky dish) with another freeview box connected to another TV at the other end of the house and I lost reception there completely months ago. Didn't bother sorting that one at the time. I'll try the main one again tomorrow, should get at least a few seconds reception hopefully. Many thanks Biggles

11300. Finding out how to do this, as you say, was not straightforward - eventually I came across a 'LNB setup' button, which led me into a further set of options including one to change the frequency (though this was not obvious and took a bit of delving, trial and error). Murray Glue said:
I agree Carole, and I am a technician with experience in satellite tracking systems in marine environments. The manual is vague and not very helpful.
I cannot for the life of me find where in the menus you are supposed to set up the LNB parameters. All I get is the ADD LNB dialog and I dont know which frequency they are talking about.
I am willing to try anything to get this going but so far its not looking too promising.
Can anyone tell me how to set up the LNB for Freeview?

egular (but still annoying) pixellation. My neighbour has had the same degradation over this period.
We have both had professional help and changed out our antennae on the advice of separate accredited installers. No real change.
Today we were visited by a Radio Spectrum Management technician who was very thorough and helpful. He advised that there is no interference problem and that we simply have a poor reception problem, possibly brought about by seasonality and multi-path reflection off nearby bush-covered hills. He advised that we would either have to try raising our aerials, replacing our cabling, or going to satellite. Or all of the above. I really don't want to go to that expense without some assurance that it will solve my problem (let alone the fact that the tuners in my smart TV and Hard Drive recorder will then be useless).
Something has changed. I have had good Freeview for over 2 years. Any ideas about what this could be? What (if any) recourse do I have to get this sorted out?
Thanks

et top box or recorder, such as the Zinwell/DSE satellite receiver, you need to manually set your clock to daylight savings time.
If you don't, the actual on-air times for programmes on your TV will not line up with what's showing on your programme guide; or if you want to record something, it may not start at the right time as the clock is out of sync.
To change the time on your TV, set top box or recorder
Go to Menu (or Settings) > System Configuration > System Setting > Time then change "Summer" to ON or OFF.
Note: The instructions above are general guidelines, though most device menu structures are similar, it's always best to refer to your product manual for device-specific instructions if required. You can search for the brand of your TV, box or recorder here to find support contacts.…
are able to tune in to the Channel.
Unfortunately, the Receiver that you have, is one of the Receivers unable to tune Al Jazeera. If you turn the Receiver OFF, you're likely to receive the prompt again when you turn the Receiver back ON. There's no Setting that will prevent the prompt, or turn it OFF.
You'd need a suitable Receiver, below is a list of the different Models we've had over the years that are capable of tuning Al Jazeera.

Since you're "very likely" to get Freeview|HD, you just need to install an external UHF aerial (standard ones can be picked up from places like DSE & Noel Leemings etc. from round about $69 - $99). Make sure it's pointed at Sugar Loaf (so it's aligned properly with the signal stream for best results) and it should be all g....

h these boxes.
The s7090 should not 'lock up' (But I have had mine do this a few times, but under different circumstances.)
I am not sure what the EPROM reset is. (Haven't had to do one of those!)
FYI. You can just hold the Power Button on the physical s7090 for about 10 seconds to get it to switch off when its locked up. You will still loose your recordings but it saves switching it off at the wall. (That is one of the many things that isn't in the manual.)
If you do go back and load an older firmware, if you can still get a copy, you can turn off the OTA upgrades via the Settings menu to stop it being upgraded.
Regarding the recording two channels and watching a third...... The caveat for this is that the channels must come from the same transponder on the satellite. This was the situation until Prime moved to a different transponder. If you are recording a program from Prime, one of the s7090's two tuners will be locked to the Prime transponder and this reduces your options on recording and viewing other channels. It still shouldn't lock up the s7090 when you swap around though.
I will have fun tonight trying out your scenario.
