Depends on what STB/TV you are using. Most TVs and STBs - No. They don't have enough computing power.

An Android TV box with Kodi and Exodus add-on works well.

So does a PC, HTPC or Laptop.

For viewers who are only interested in On Demand viewing, we’re developing a Freeview On Demand smart TV app that is delivered entirely over IP.

When this smart TV app is released, Freeview On Demand will be accessible from the apps menu of all Smart TVs that support the app.  And users of these Smart TVs will only need a broadband connection to access Freeview On Demand, no TV antenna connection would be required.

Thank you for the replies, we have Sat box S8200, it just looked yo be sensible to add apps and not have to buy a Kodi or some other device. Streaming other networks like the BBC would be great.

Well if you have a Laptop or PC just go to FilmonTV. Plenty of free channels inc BBC there for streaming.

P.S. An android TV box with Kodi and many other apps plus Satellite and UHF Tuners is only $109. My K1 Plus only cost me $98 last year and now down to $86. Took me about 10 mins to set up for Sat, UHF and online streaming.

Kodi itself is a free open source app,

Josh, when will the on demand app be available?

There are world TV channels available legally via satellite outside of Freeview. It depends though on which specific channels/countries you are looking for. We have some listed on our website (www.eastbayaerials.co.nz) as a guide, but chances are there might me something more suitable.

The benefits of this is that you save more on Internet bandwidth and doesn't lag or splutter. The trade off is that most satellite signals are in SD.

Hope this helps.
