There's no reason why a factory reset should wipe out all your recordings. Only formatting the HDD could do that.
And check Network Status re error 2 messages. Looks like it's still being investigated.
Thanks on both counts Biggles. I thought the factory reset would wipe everything. I had been on the network status page and saw Chch was having issues (which I thought were fixed, but obviously that was just Auckland), so I might try ringing Dish TV on Monday to see if that's what could be going on for me as well. Thanks again, I appreciate you replying.
Hi, We live in Timaru, have a Magic TV 3700TD, still getting Code 2 error messages after doing a factory reset, re-tuneing and updating the firmware. Still waiting for DishTV to reply to our problem. Seems like other areas are getting better, but not Timaru, anyone else from Timaru Area having problems ? ? hope they let us know soon when it will be sorted out.
I had this until a couple of days ago when it seemed too come right but went too record something on tv2 tonight and once again got the code 2 error, turnned everything off and unplugged it for 5 minutes and once again code 2, i've tried setting the timer and it seemed too work, we'll see.. I've also got a magictv 3700
Hi, Got this reply from the DishTV support people today: "Sorry there is nothing we can do it is a broadcast issue not a fault with your unit, others around the country are having the same problem. We have informed them of the problem so it is in there hands now." Still frustrating, but at least our unit isn't faulty, so come on Broadcasters, let people know what is wrong and when it is expected to be fixed. It may be free,,,, but just as well.
Thanks for posting Mark and Andrew. Mark, that's pretty much the reply we got from Dish TV too, we have the same unit. I figure I'll give them till the end of the month to fix it or at least own the problem then I'll return to the store I bought it from and ask for a refund under the CGA - it has to be fit for the purpose for which it was purchased and since it is a Freeview RECORDER, but doesn't actually record Freeview, then in my opinion it isn't fit for the purpose. It doesn't matter if it is a broadcasting issue or not, the unit is theirs and it is only their units that seem to be having issues. Andrew, I've tried timer recording, but it picks and chooses what it wants to record. I have discovered that if you turn onto the channel I want to record, at the time I want to record something, then I can programme it in. However, once again, it picks and chooses if it wants to record it or not. I had a 1 hour show down to record and I got 28 mins of it. I wasn't recording anything else at the time, it just decided it didn't want to record the full show...why would I want to see the full show for anyway?
It appears to be a Freeview certified box therefore it has got to be a Dish TV problem. If all the other Freeview Certifed boxes work OK then why doesn't Dish TV. Sounds like they just don't want to own up to the problem but try and blame the broadcasters. Maybe if every DishTV owner starts seeking redress under the CGA they'll get the message. Maybe also a good time to invole Fair Go.
as all above are in jda areas ask them
fair go seems a bit much for something which may involve jda, dish and freeview very slightly each yet add up to a problem
See Network Status page for updates.
