sking questions might not be very obvious at all, especially when it comes to technology that you may not be familiar with.
Sometimes it's easier to throw our hands in the air and exclaim in frustration: "Why is it not working!?!? Why is it this hard?!?! I don't know what to do - help!!!"- that doesn't help the forum community in finding the answers to your digital TV woes though.
To help us help YOU
Take the following simple steps:

The Freeview service you're using: Freeview|HD (received via a UHF aerial) or Freeview Satellite (received via a satellite dish).
The New Zealand town/region you're in.

t in the showroom, same result , no TV1 or TV2, discussed the readings from my satellite meter, even tested it against their own meter, all good. The only top box that will work is the "Strong" unit. They could not understand it either Paul said:

only 11 channels left, from 19. Have used Freeview helpline 0800 873384, and the best they could do was refer me to a television service company. A bit of old-fashioned 'Switch everything in the house off, including the DishTV recorder, lights behind the Bravia, computer and modem, plug the set directly into the aerial connection on the wall. Then retune the Bravia digital on automatic. Have now 20 channels, clear as a bell. Plug everything in back to normal and Bob is your Uncle. Hope this helps.

id not load but here are a couple of things to try.
Make sure that your USB drive is formatted as FAT32. This is typically NOT the default formatting option when formatting the drive on a PC or Mac.
If you are trying to install the firmware by powering on the unit, while holding down the MENU button, make sure you are turning the unit off at the wall (Or unplugging the power connection on the back.) and then reconnecting the power while holding down the MENU button on the front panel.
Alternatively (If your current firmware supports this. Can't remember if it does or not.) there will be a 'S/W Upgrade via USB' option on the 'Installation' menu that you can try.
If none of this works, give the DishTV guys a call on Monday and give them as much information as possible.
Good luck. Alan…

ed, there are many LNB types to choose from. These include C band, Extended C band, User, Universal and Ku band. Each of theses categories offers many types (eg: 11300, 10750 etc)
How do I know why LNB type my satellite dish is?

everyone who doesn't have to deal with technology setup very often is likely to have (unexplained acronyms and the like). Biggles said:
Firstly you need to double check the Dish is accurately aligned to Optus D1.
As far as I am aware the STB doesn't (and can't) 'step through the LNB Frequencies'.
You need to check the frequency of your LNB on the Dish and ensure the same frequency is entered in the setup in the LNB box.
The manual is pretty simple to follow. If you've entered your location in the first screen then scanned and you get nothing then either the LNB freq or some other parameter is wrong, or you are pointing at the wrong satellite.

I live in Rotorua and have been having channels go missing and turning up later on now for about a week. The other day there were about a dozen missing. Now there are 2 I can't view for the last couple of days. Prime and Choice. I watch these channels quite a bit so very frustrating. My aunt who lives central city has the same problem. Glad I found this and did not ring a aerial company. Not a fault on my end it seems.

plitter on the sky (primary) port which maintains power to the LNB , and the other port to the freeview box which doesn't have to be power-pass and as long as the primary Sky decoder is left switched on - no problem. An all-ports power-pass splitter could be used , but it is recommended that LNB power be set to "OFF" on the freeview box. I already had a splitter for another purpose and need to identify if it is a single-port power pass type. There are no labels etc but has a line drawn between the IN port and 1 of the OUT ports. I'm fairly certain this is a single. (pic attached). Could someone please just confirm ? .…
