Hi All - first post, after not finding the answer in other discussions.
I currently run two terrestrial Freeview TV's and two Tivo's. With the Tivo end of service announcement I am investigating replacement options.
My Wife is deaf, so ability to show captions is a critical requirement, this is done to a reasonable extent for prime time Freeview shows.
If Freeview Plus does not support the same captioning , I can strike them of the list for consideration (unless they meet the grade on their other capability).
Currently expecting that some form of DishTV or Panasonic PVR will be the Tivo replacements. The two TV's are both serviceable (Samsung is an early Smart TV) , and not due for replacement for a while. The non smart TV rocks a Chromecast for Netflix etc.
So comments re Freeview Plus and closed captions appreciated.

My understanding is that Freeview Plus is just an add-on to standard Freeview so CC should be the same. However I believe the Freeview Plus can be disabled leaving you with standard old Freeview without it's associated problems. I can't confirm though as I don't have (and certainly don't want) any Freeview Plus gear. When eventually the time comes for me to update my TV or Panny Recorder I guess there won't be a choice? I'll just disable Freeview Plus if that happens to avoid all the bugs in the system.

Spent some time in JB HI Fi this afternoon and it seems Freeview Plus is the On Demand offerings of TVNZ, TV3 and Maori TV packaged through the Freeview channel. IF this is the case then it will not have captions and is not use to me.
The Pannie DVR looked ok, but I need 2 units, so need to check that the remotes can be programmed to each DVR like the Tivo does ....otherwise there will be carnage.
Yes, they can. I did this when I had a Panny Recorder and a Panny Blu Ray Player. Up to 6 different remote codes available to avoid clashes.

See Network Status page for updates.
