I don't think you can improve things with an indoor antenna. An ampilfied indoor antenna may help but I wouldn't bank on it. Your only solution is likely to be an external UHF antenna.

Have you checked your address in the Freeview coverage site?

That should indicate what sort of reception you can expect.

How did you receive analogue TV and were you able to receive Prime and Maori?

The coverage is "very likely" according to the website.

Back when we had analogue I was able to get Prime very clearly but I could not pick up Maori TV, this was by using just a vhf bunny ears aerial indoors also.

Could you explain why an amplified antenna would help more? I don't understand the difference between them.

By absolute magic I have some channels! YAY! Except not all of them- my channels 1 & 2 are very fuzzy and say no signal. Do you think this would be an aerial problem?

Yes, definitely aerial related.

OK so you seem to be in a high signal area. You should be able to improve the signal by moving the aerial about in the room to find the best spot. The fact that you could receive Prime indicates you should be able to get Freeview. An amplifed antenna has a built in amplifier to boost the signal strength.

Best spot would be by a window where you can see the TV transmitter.
