Ive been with Sky for years. I have the basic package (no sport or movies etc) in order that I have a digital signal. I want to cancel it but have these constraints. 1. I want HD as I have a 4k Samsung TV and want the best picture. I cant get Terrestrial signal (I live in Titirangi bush)and no longer have an aerial anyway so have to use the sky dish. I stream a lot of TV that has HD content. Im a novice at setup and understanding what are my options to get the equivalent of what I have with sky basic.  Thanks for any help

Thanks guys for your comments. I have Samsung f9000 tv and HD is important to me so in effect I cant get that (Unless I keep my subscription to sky) If I buy a box do I just replace that with the current Sky box and connect the Sky dish to that?? I cant connect it to the TV as all the cables run under the house to the sky box ( quite a distance from TV) and will I notice a difference in the picture quality if I change. Thanks Kiwizzie

If you can't get a UHF signal the you won't get an HD picture from Freeview Satellite which is only SD. The only way to get HD via Satellite is to have MySky and an HD ticket plus subscribe to the HD Channels (TV1, 2, 3, Prime, Sports and Movies). The only other option for HD is via the Internet providers (Netflix etc.).

Good Evening Kiwizzie

Thanks for your question, your option will be Freeview Satellite and all you need it a Freeview Box. While you cannot get HD on Freeview channels (well at the time of this post) you will be able to get around 20 Free To Air Channels and extra options depending on the box you get. If you want to watch TVNZ ONdemand and 3Now in HD all in one box then the satBox S8200 FreeviewPlus box will do the trick, this comes with an enhanced guide and you can stream shows on demand in high quality. You can also record shows.  If you dont care for on demand apps or just want a basic skybox equivalent then there are a range of boxes you can look at on the Freeview website.
