Maori, Prime, Sommet etc not found on Panasonic TV or MyFreeviewHD since rescan

I did a rescan today to as the above channels weren't displaying and the channels were empty.

After the rescan, these channels do not appear on the channel listing on either my Panasonic TV or Recorder. However, they are appearing on a cheap Veon TV (connected to the same aerial as the Recorder - the signal comes out of the recorder loop-through into the TV).

The TV is Panasonic Viera TH-P42U20Z

The Recorder is Panasonic DMR-XW380

Is there some reason why the Panasonics aren't scanning correctly? Or does anyone know how this could be fixed? Is there a way of doing a hard reset on Panasonics?

I've tried watching the channels on the veon tv and found the channels now breaking up and unwatchable. I therefore suspect that the Panasonic is actually choosing not to store them. I'm in central Auckland in an apartment so that might be the cause. Not sure which transmitter is being used.

I'm having the same issue with my Panasonic Viera TV (50ST60Z) and Panasonic recorder (can't remember the model but it is the one with the bluray player).  I don't know why Panasonics seem to be the only ones affected by this.

I've tried manual scanning and auto scanning dozens of times, but without luck.  I'm living in an Auckland CBD apartment which has direct line of sight to the Skytower transmitters.

I have a Panasonic BWT720 and did a manual scan rather than auto scan. Found CH37 (Waiatarua) OK and added the channels found as per the Menu. No problems. Did you do a manual or Autoscan? I did a manual scan because I didn't want to rescan all the channels that were still working OK. Much easier to just find CH37 and add the channels to the list. I did the same with my Sony Bravia TV and had no problems. My PC Tuner card on the other hand will only allow autoscan and I had to scan multiple times before it located and locked in all channels even though signal strength/quality here is 10/10.

All seems rather pointless.  Panasonic says call Freeview.  Freeview say go to the forum.   All the posts are the same question about Panasonic Televisions.  From what I can see its simple: disconnect any RF modulator, most likely a VCR and retune the TV.

I agree. It's not a Freeview problem and not a Panasonic problem. It's a setup problem that only seems to involve a few people. Turn off and unplug everything except the TV and STB if needed and do a retune. If you use a modulator for Sky or VCR or anything else then expect problems, particularly if it is a UHF modulator.

This Topic suggests that the signal strength from these channels has been decreased. It does not appear to be isolated to Panasonic (just Panny boxes are filtering them out just to poor signal quality). As I mentioned above, my VEON TV does show the channels but pixelated.

FYI - the aerial is connected directly to my Freeview Recorder and TV.

I also suspect that the aerial is pointed to Waitarua and not Sky Tower (I looked at the top of the apartment and saw it pointed towards that direction).

If it's pointing at Waiatarua it will be horizontal. If pointing to Sky Tower it should be vertical. Using the wrong polarisation will result in significant loss of signal strength.

I too am in Central Auckland in an Apartment on Albert Street with a one year old Sony TV. Since 1st May and countless retunes (including today) My Sony TV detects TV 1,2,3, plus1,2,3, C4, Al Jazzera, 3 shopping channels and the Informstion channel). I have lost ChoiceTV, Prime, Maori and Sommet Sports. I've notified my building manager but no one else in the building, as yet has reported any issues. Would this be an issue with a retune required on the apartment block ariel? The missing channels do show up on the EPG.

I'll check tonight.

Nice to know I am not the only one that cannot re-tune the channels by auto scan or manually on our Panasonic Viera TV.  Panasonic customer care take no responsibility and say Freeview needs to find a solution as it was working fine of our tv before the 1st of May change.  I have done the suggestions posted on this forum of disconnecting recorder then doing a re-scan (many times) but still nothing.  We have the tv connected to an aerial on the roof.  IF we purchased a freeview box would we then be able to get the channels?

Hi Denise, your TV already have a box/receiver built-in so you don't need any additional equipment.  What you may want to do is check the troubleshooting tips here and also try what Biggles suggested earlier - manual scan.

What's your location, where is your UHF aerial pointed at? I'll give you the RF CHANNEL numbers for your manual scan if you could please let me know those 2 details. Thanks
