I'm in Waitakare, Auckland and since the retune I have not been able to receive Prime, Choice TV, Sommet Sports, Al Jazeera, etc.  The Channels can se seen but the picture freezes every second or so.  I have a Freeview HD TV with an externally mounted horizontal polarity UHF aerial pointed directly to the Waitarua transmitter.

I have tried everything as recommended: auto-tune, manual tune, cold start, factory reset to no avail.  I understand from another discussion that antenna amplifiers may be an issue.  I do not understand however why this would be the case if everything worked ok before the broadcast frequencies were changed.  Please advise what else I can do.

Hi David, have you got any other device connected to your TV?  if so have you tried this?

Just because the set up worked before doesn't necessarily mean all parts were working or set up correctly.  Faults in the system can be dormant until changes occur - be it broadcast, transmission or changes in weather conditions - resulting in loss of channels, typically on one or more multiplex and in some cases all.  It's best to consult an installer if what's suggested in the first link (i.e. disconnect all other devices) doesn't work for you.

No other devices connected to the TV.

+1

Have you got an old Sky box or VCR connected to the TV?

Disconnect and turn off everything except the TV, make sure the antenna is plugged directly into the TV only and see if it works OK them.

Hi Biggles, there are no devices connected to the TV at all.

Hi David, are you in a dip or valley? Do you have line of signt to Waiatarua?  or any trees or anything else that could obscure the signal path from Waiatarua? Being in the Waitaks you should be well within range of the transmission tower...unless there's too much tree cover or hills in the way?  The only other possibility would be some cabling or antenna issue.  Oh and I know you said UHF but does it look like any of these?

Although there are no devices connected to the TV are there any other devices that may be connected to you antenna system. Your symptoms indicate possible presence of an analogue modulator on the same frequency somewhere nearby. Or as Bel indicates, do you have the correct antenna. Perhaps you coud post a picture? Also what signal strength is indicated on each mux in your tuning menu?

The problem appears to be resolved...  I haven't done anything additional and last night reception was good on all channels.  Thanks for your help.
