Reception issues in Dunedin?

Hi all,

Anyone else in Dunedin having issues with the lower # channels (Ch 1, 2, 3, etc). Signal is very weak and picture does not display, audio breaks up. This is on an antenna and began out of nowhere last night about 5pm. Prime, Choice, Sonnet etc are fine.

Hi Andrew, no other reports so far, make sure the antenna cable is connected properly...sounds like it could be loose. Also check the UHF aerial if you haven't already - get a visual on it to see if it's still in the same place / condition as it was.

I am having the same problem but on satellite in Wellington. The same thing is happening to a guy in Upper Hutt. It has only been in the last few days.

Hi Shelley, you're on a different platform (the satellite or DTH platform - accessed via a satellite dish and satellite receiver) to Andrew, who is on the DTT platform (accessed via a UHF aerial and HD receiver). The two platforms are independent from one another so your reception issues are unrelated. I've followed up with the satellite transmission providers on the glitches you reported having at the same time as Rodney, they've checked their system and there were no transmission issues at those times. So we can rule that out and now it's best to look at the LNB on your satellite dish as these can drift away from the right transponder frequencies as they age and become faulty, rendering them particularly sensitive to changes in the weather / temperature etc. Another common fault with satellite dishes is alignment. Please have a look at the satellite toolkitJosh has put together as there're some very useful info there. And if it's all too complex, it's best to consult an installer. Thanks.
