Hi guys
Wanted to ask for some advice. I am getting nowhere in setting up our freeview at the new place.
The previous tenants had sky set up and I thought I would be able to swop the dish coax out and into the new uhf aerial. I would then run a coax cable with barrel connectors from the wall sky sockets + signal amplifier into the built in freeview hd of the tv.
This is how i had it at our old house and it worked but I am getting no signal whatsoever now. There is a splitter set up in the roof cavity but as this was working for their sky connection, I cant see how it will be the problem.
Anyway, I would really appreciate some advice on this or some pointing in the right direction.
Thanks
Ernus.

To start with I'd bypass the splitter and the amp. Start from scratch with a straight run of coax from UHF antenna to TV. If that works you can at least check your signal strength and quality. Then add splitter and amp only if needed. If your amp is not at the masthead then it's probably next to useless anyway as it will be amplifying the signal plus any noise on the co-ax as well. For low signals it's best to use a masthead amp and only use an amp at the TV end of the coax if distributing the signal to more than one TV/Recorder, and then only if necessary.
Thanks for the advice Biggles.
I did get it to work in the end by bypassing all of the splitters/amps in the roof and just running straight from the aerial to the wall + a booster at the tv end. Signal is pretty bad though with the quality at around 2/10 and the strength at 3/10 on my tvs signal status menu. I'll see about getting an amp for the masthead.
Had to mount the aerial as high as possible to get clear of the neighbours roof which fixed a missing tv3 issue.
Will see how the signal holds up with heavy rain etc.
Thanks again.
