I have had a cheap brand of freeview box which was digiview and I couldnt get some off the channels so today bought a proper freeview box called satbox dish tv freeview satellite single tuner usb Hdd recorder. I got it working and now get  a few more channels than I did with the old box but still cant get  aljazeera, shopping channel, TVSN and first flight and there maybe a few more, why cant i get these other channels please

aljazeera not on freeview satellite,but as pay channel with sky same as with the shopping channels

As Willis says. Some channels are only available on FreeviewHD Terrestrial. Channels such as Al Jazeera and others that are on satellite are on the Sky platform, are encrypted and can only be viewed with a sat box plus Sky subscription card.

I hope that the info that willis and Biggles provided, helped with your enquiry, reminder that because you have a unapproved unit you will not be able to automatically receive new channels as they come in, they will require a manual rescan which is limited to what your user guide says.
