On quite a few, not all, programmes the recording gets almost to the end and then stops! Particularly annoying when it is part of a series....  I've tried to see if the time is not set right but time is set within the TV and can't be changed. The recording usually starts well before the programme. What if anything can I do to adjust for this?

see if there are settings for' start recording xx min before' and' stop recording xx min after'

According to your profile you are using a Homecast HT9200DTR. If so you will see on Pg25 of your manual how to add a buffer time at beginning and end of EPG program times to avoid this. I add 5 mins after on my Panasonic (I think the default is 1 and 3) and if there is a MUST not miss program I want to record then I use Timer Record instead of the EPG. I always use Timer Record for recording consecutive programs to avoid overlap conflictions.

Software version 01.07.3A had changes to allow back to back recordings and overlapping. Please check the software version and upgrade if you are using an older software version.

Thanks for that. I found the version on mine - 01.07.1B - but wouldn't know how to upgrade it. Can you help? I did find out though that it seems to be set already to allow for a 10 min buffer at the end of programmes so it shouldn't be giving me a problem.

Thank you for that. That's interesting. Before posting I had read about the buffer but couldn't be sure how to work it out so you directed me to the same place and I had a bit more confidence to follow it up. I found that it already had a 10 min buffer set so wondered why I still had the problem. The second part of your post has only now become apparent and I rather think the 10 min is the problem as on the occasions it was an issue I was wanting to record two consecutive programmes. Is Timer Record the same as Time shift because I can't work that out.

Thank you and sorry for the delay in responding. I have been getting a little more familiar with my manual since the problem but wasn't immediately sure how to go about implementing your suggestion . However, you will see from my other replies that I think I have identified the problem. There is a 10 min buffer set in the machine which means it conflicts when I am wanting to record a programme straight after.

I really appreciate everyone's help on the forum.

No. Time shift is when you just want to delay what you are currently watching if you've been interrupted by a phone call or something. Timer record is when you manually set start and finish record times (and date) instead of relying on the EPG. It avoids overlap conflictions because you can set to start before the first program and stop several minutes or more after the second or more consecutive programs. Just like you had to do with your old VCR. Timer record is essential if you have two tuners but want to avoid overlap conflicts when wanting to record consecutive programs on one channel while also recording a program on another channel unless you have three or more tuners like a MySky unit.

Thank you. I'm learning lots!

Thank you. I'll try that in the next day or so.
