For the past week or so I have noticed the signal from Mt Campbell has been changing from HD(dolby sound) to SD(pcm) both from my house in Atawhai and Reli's in Stoke.

I've tweeked the alignment of my UHF aerial (clear view of Mt Campbell) signal is 100% quality around 80% so should be OK. It Seems to be whats being transmitted.

Any help would be appriciated, is it on going or teething problems?????

Hi there,

The microwave link to Mt Campbell may have been affected by the high pressure system and promted a switch to a back-up Satellite link (which would not be transmitting HD).

I'm checking with JDA on this now (and also confirming an ETA on when the link will be upgraded to reduce the impact of large high pressure systems we get down the line) so we can get some formal comms on the Network Status page.

Thank's Bel,

I had a similar reply in the Geekzone forums, Hope it's not on going....

JDA's assured us that they plan to upgrade that link ASAP - after the upgrade, the impact of any large high pressure system should be reduced.

Any News on the Upgrade to the Nelson link that was due Feb 22 ?

Good to have the update from JDA that the new link in Nelson is now commissioned (1900 on 22/02) and reports that the signal has stabilised

So what is it now ? more issues, more excuses, completely unwatchable, Freeview HD absolute rubbish...

I believe this site has a backup from Satellite Freeview if the microwave feed of the normal prog fails.

Satellite Freeview does not have AC3 ( DD )  so it may have switched to that backup ,  giving you Standard Def on TV 1 2 and 3  with normal sound . I read on the Network Status there was a mains power issue with one of the microwave repeaters feeding Mt Campbell .
