No signal with indoor antenna

Hi, all! Yesterday I tried to connect Freeview using the indoor digital antenna.  Landlord watches China TV through sattelite.  When searching for channels, Freeview shows the message "Database is empty".  Does this mean I am not getting any signal with the indoor antenna?  Thank you.

Thank you, Biggles for all your help! I swaped indoor antenna into outdoor at Noel & Leeming - same sale as Dick Smith.  Good reception sofar.
