Our signal strength was 58%.  We tilted the dish so the best we can get is 65% and 93% quality.  It is in and out sometimes but not as bad as it used to be.  Live in Lake Tekapo.  We have Dish TV S7070 box and satellite dish.  How can we get a stronger satellite sikgnal?  Also, we don't get the Sports Channel.  Do you know why this is?  Thanks.

Hi Rosemary

There are two ways in which you can improve Satellite Reception 1. is moving the dish which is what you have done and another way is rotating your LNB just a inch more, you can read more about how to do that here: http://freeviewforum.co.nz/forum/topics/freeview-satellite-adjustin...

In terms of Sommet Sports The channel is not available on Satellite yet however there are changes being made to the broadcast to make this possible so keep checking your Freeview Approved device for anything on Channel 14!

Hope this helps!

Kind Regards
Joshua

Strength isn't a problem. Signal quality is everything with digital and if it's in the 90% plus area, that's all you need to get good tv.

Hi Joshua, I will try the LNB tomorrow, and went to the link you posted.  Can you please clarify aligning the dish on 160E on Optus D1.  Is this done on the installation on the monitor or where?  I would like to check that out - thanks.

Ok, so why does the no signal come on intermittently?  Sometimes, its weather or is it the LNB.  Am looking at that tomorrow so if its in the correct position then it must need replacing....

It might be your LNB

Does it look like something like this? http://www.legiontv.co.nz/downloads/Dual-LNB.jpg

Hello Joshua

I moved the LNB, it was quite stiff and also cleaned the face of it.  It has been going well since lunchtime with no signal messages or audio visual messages coming onscreen.  Time will tell but it is better than this morning.  Thanks for your help!!

I'm glad it helped Rosemary! :)

People tweaking LNBs without the proper test gear is a worry ,  its only takes a few

degrees error in the skew to reduce performance considerably !!

I thoroughly agree Steve. Should only be attempted using the appropriate gear and by someone who knows what they are doing. If you don't know how to locate the satellite you shouldn't even contemplate adjusting things.

Indeed   In the days of Optus B1  when only one polarity was on the NZ beam  it was fairly easy to do without proper test gear   But with D1  and both polarity active ,  the simple satfinder is just not up to the task for a proper LNB Cross Pol null adjustment
