Has anyone in the Nelson region noticed an increase in pixelation, over most channels, since the big retune on the 1st May? Channel 3 seems particularly bad.

Cheers

TV3+1 First Line was really bad this morning, but I resisted the urge to switch over to the gameshow like TV ONE breakfast program which is dreadful in my opinion.

Why does the pixelation only affect some some channels, usually TV3?

I don't buy that argument. Digital TV has been on-air in NZ Since 2008 and was being tested some time before that. It has been around overseas a lot longer. The technology is far from new. There is no excuse for the problems we are experiencing other than Freeview has been introduced to NZ on a shoestring budget.

Shoestring budget???

have had freeview hd since 2008 on 2 transmitters and don't recall anything untoward in 6 years

Pixelation should have improved, Now using backup systems until problem is resolved.

Thanks for that. I didn't have TV on this morning when its usually at its worst as I didn't see the post that you may of made some adjustments. I will check it out tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed :)

Hi all

Anyone losing all channels signal from Mt Campbell, except 1,2,3,4 & mainland??

TV 3 is pixelating during the news tonight.

Yes Ross we have been having the same problems using Kaka Hill transmitter in Nelson. Haven't looked at any other channels but TV3 isn't good.

I've been watching TV 4 their's a bit of pixelation going on (here in richmond) doesn't seem as bad as when I last watched TV 3.

There were some serious fibre delivery issues last night, should be back to normal now.

Hi guys,

Checked this out with the transmission provider for Nelson (JDA) and they've fixed the cause of the problem, so service should be back to normal now.

There was a power outage to their site in Blenheim (part of the microwave backup link which has been in use while the fiber delivery is being strengthened) yesterday and took out the link, they had to revert back to the fiber (so as to prevent a more severe service black-out) before it's ready which is why the pixelation appeared.

The microwave link was fixed last night and it was put back on air early this morning so the problem should be gone.   JDA continues to work with their fiber-delivery partner to sure up that fiber link to Nelson.

Speedbrake good point re polarity - please see www.freeviewforum.co.nz/tip/rf for polarity for Mt Campbell and Kaka Hill.  Thanks NZDTV for confirming and cheers Biggles for that link (Speedbrake check that link Biggles posted for channel numbers for Mainland TV to try with a manual tune/scan).

This afternoon, Sunday 2nd Nov, just as the All Blacks match against the USA started, around 2.45pm, Prime started to pixalate badly, as did the Maori channel. Both channels still not available this evening and yet the network status is ok. Very strange, so will see what happens tomorrow.
