Has anyone in the Nelson region noticed an increase in pixelation, over most channels, since the big retune on the 1st May? Channel 3 seems particularly bad.

Cheers

JDA has been notified.

Also TV3 fro Kaka Hill was bad, same times. Who are JDA?

Kaka hill is an infill from Mt Campbell, So if mt Campbell is playing up so is Kaka hill.

Hi all...tv3 pixilated from 1740 tonight, July 6...really bad during The Simpsons,   uhf into tv, via Mt Campbell... And 3 news via set top box. Also via Mt Campbell. ….

It always seems to be TV3 that starts pixilating, I wonder why that is?

Strange, its the one I watch the most, did also notice some on Prime & TV1 during the evening.

Hi, I'm from Timaru and have a similar forum going for our area.  Apparently we may have same transmitter JDA.

I have just rang JDA to talk the the Engineer I had on the phone last week but she is away. I talked to Paul at JDA instead.  I told him it was doing the freezing really bad right now on TVNZ as well as TV3 channels.  He will go and check the transmitter now while it is doing it.

I also took at 30 second video of TV2 and have e-mailed it to him so JDA can see exactly what terrible TV viewing we have.

So hopefully we will get some action on the problem.

Update from JDA just now:

We have switched to off air receive from Sugarloaf and are linking the data via microwave.

Al Jazera and TVSN are however off the Auckland data.   This means that these two programs are still subject to the earlier impairments.

We are trying to  find a permanent technical fix for the problem.

See how it works tomorrow morning :)

Should see some improvements today. Some adjustments have been made.

People need to remember this is new technology for everyone concerned, and like with any thing new there are going to be teething problems.

The old analogue system was there for 50 years and all the bugs had long been ironed out.

Given time we will have a rock solid system. with HD and interactive TV.

I don't buy that argument. Digital TV has been on-air in NZ Since 2008 and was being tested some time before that. It has been around overseas a lot longer. The technology is far from new. There is no excuse for the problems we are experiencing other than Freeview has been introduced to NZ on a shoestring budget.
