A little more info would be helpful. Satellite or UHF? What exactly has happened?
Satellite - using Optus D1. Followed aerial cables, checked satellite dish connection. Sky service on other TV is OK (so eliminated this as a problem). Receiver is Transonic TWH-S1
OK. So if Sky is OK on the other TV then it sounds like your decoder has failed rather than the usual LNB failure. You could try a Factory Reset which may or may not help. Otherwise I'd suggest try another known good working STB in the same location and/or try your STB in a known good working location. Basically you're in a trial and error situation to find out what's wrong. It is remotely possible that the LNB is indeed failing but the tuners in the Sky box are more sensitive so still working OK whereas the signal strength may be now too low for the faulty STB.
Initially I just had signal failure. Tried factory reset then lost database. So will try decoder at someone else's place.
Hi Gary
How did you go with trying that decoder at another place, there have been several reports that that particular model is known to die off after some time, so it's probably best to look into another box which can be cheap depending on where you go and look (and online)
Hi Joshua
Worked good as gold at another place. I'm thinking that I only have a VHF aerial setup. I thought it was connected to my sky dish, but now don't think so as the connection is not the same as my sky aerial connection to my other TV. Also my VHF aerial doesn't have a UHF bar on it. I wonder if the VHF signal has been taken offline?
Thanks for that Gary,
VHF is no longer an aerial that can be used to get Free TV,.
Could you confirm before the issue:
- You were receiving channels fine
- The cable was connected to the Satellite Dish linked from the SKY box (how is it split?)
The Transonic TWH-S1 may be having issues with your satellite settings and this could be an issue mentioned below -->
It looks like that as the summer months arrive the LNB which is the little machine that is on the dish has either failed or fried which will need to be replaced, if there is a SKY owner in the house or who uses that dish to receive SKY then it is up to the owner of a SKY BOX to arrange to call them as it's still part of SKYS service to maintain the dish under a subscription.
However because the SKY OWNER can still receive a signal then the dish is not faulty on SKYs part. It might be best to get a new Freeview Receiver or contact The Warehouse to explain what has happened. you can get details about the TWH-S1 here http://www.freeviewnz.tv/product/19
Let me know if you need any further assistance?
Kind Regards
Joshua
