Been asked to check HDD connection after recording. What does that mean? It's a built in HDD

Hi Patricia

Usually this means that something is not quite right with the connection of the Built in Hard Drive,

Can you confirm if you can do any of the following:

  • Record a channel for 5 minutes successfully 
  • Open up the Library by pressing the LIB button on the remote
  • Go to Menu > Media Manager > Media Info and check that there is a SATA interface available

    If you can record fine and view playback shows then there should be nothing wrong with the connection with the built in HDD, Turn off the unit for 1 minute and reboot to check that the message repeats again. 

    If there are any error messages or if you cannot see a SATA  Disc drive in the menu then follow the next set of instructions:

 Factory Reset the unit, this will reset all components and will hopefully solve the message from appearing, Please note that the contents of the hard drive (TV Shows) will be erased and the unit will be refreshed from when you brought it out of the box. 

Do undergo a Factory Reset do the following:

  1. Go to Main Menu by pressing the MENU  button on your remote
  2. Go to Installation 
  3. Go to Factory Default 
  4. Confirm that you want to reset all information
  5. Wait for the unit to reset and reboot, follow the installation instructions/scan

I couldn't record, get into Lib or anything. So I switched the whole unit off to reboot. First time I rebooted I couldn't hear the drive and it didn't resolve problem. I switched off box and waited a few minutes. Once I switched back on I heard the drive booting up. All's good now. But it didn't record the most important program I purchased this box for. Grrrr it just glitched all the way through. :(

Is the unit still having issues with recording? What show were you trying to record?

Sorry, was called away for a while. I tried to record Te Reo, Matatini performance, only one group, but am gutted I missed it due to issues with the box. If anyone is out there that recorded Hatea from Whangarei, would be greatly appreciated. My daughter did her first Solo on this and I couldn't record it. :(
