Since I cannot reproduce the issue in my test environment, please help check these:

1. When it powers on and hangs, what is shown on the front panel?  "MAGIC TV" or a channel number?

2. After it hangs, does unplugging or re-connecting the HDMI cable, or antenna, or network cable cause the front panel icons to change?

3. After standing by for some time, just before powering on, unplug the antenna, then power it on, does it hang?  (Since the antenna is unplugged, it should result in a black screen with a No Signal prompt).

4. If 3 still hangs, please unplug the antenna before standby, after some time wake it up again (with antenna still unplugged), does it hang?

Thanks.

Hi All,  6.07 beta4 has the same power on issue as 6.07beta, 6.07 beta2 & 6.07 beta3.  If the STB is left off for longer than approx 5 minutes then when powering on it hangs and requires turning off and on at the main switch.  I assume everyone else is seeing the same power on issue as I am starting to wonder if I am doing something wrong here?  I can confirm that reverting to 6.06 does make the power on issue go away but then I have the scheduling issues again.

Hi There,

Something strange happening with my setup - the power on issue was definitely there and when it occurred the front LCD screen was stuck on "Magic TV", so while it was jammed I removed the aerial, HDMI, and fibre for sound and powered it off and left it for 10 minutes and then powered it up and it started up perfectly.  I then plugged everything back in while it was running and there was a very small spark as I plugged the aerial back in (letting you know in case it is relevant) and after 2 days it has been running flawlessly with plenty of power offs and on's.  Somehow this seems to have solved the problem, but I am not holding my breath as there is no logical explanation for this.

I do remember reading that unplugging everything for 5 minutes was supposed too fix the problem.

Unplugging the equipment generally does help with the issue as this refreshes the unit. leave unplugged for 5-10 minutes and then reboot and see if that helps.

Cheers
Joshua

A question for Wklie. I've got a MTV3600 and am having no issues & the unit is performing faultlessly, is there any point in me upgrading to the latest firmware?

No, there is no need to upgrade.

Trying to upgrade the firmware from that link didn't work for me. It didn't find it at all. Very disappointing. I'm fed up with not being able to record anything. If I wanted a manual recording device I wouldn't have spent the money I did on a Magic TV. This is just not acceptable and very frustrating. I haven't been able to record anything for ages now.

hi,mines recording some of the time now.went away for a week and pre programmed about 8 recordings,4 worked then unit froze on tv2.it does seem to record one off recordings but not series it doesn't seem to find next weeks episodes.im extremely frustrated as well  as you say a very exspensive unit to start with that now doesn't do what it should.you would expect something like this to last.

Hi All,

After further testing I can confirm that installing 6.07 beta4 with a combination of a complete unplug and extended power down appears to have fixed both the scheduling and power on issues, BUT I have now noticed that the banner is not displaying what is actually on, rather it displays what was on when the STB was power off the previous day and this does not come right for hours.  While not a major issue, it is annoying from a point of view that I now need to use the full guide to see what is on which takes 10 seconds to load and clumsier to navigate.  If this issues could also be fixed then we have a winner!

So once you have the upgrade on a USB how do you get the MTV to recognise it and upgrade from it? I put mine in and it just says no upgrade available, as if it won't look on the USB? All help gratefully received as even though one programme says it'll record the series, it isn't recording anything. Very frustrating.

- The USB flash drive needs to be really a flash drive, not a card reader

- It should be formatted as FAT32

- The .zip downloaded from Magic TV web site needs to be unzipped to the USB flash root directory

- There should not be more than one .upg file in the whole USB flash drive

- Settings -> System -> Firmware Upgrade

- Try both USB ports

- Try rebooting the Magic TV

- Try another USB flash drive
