Please try this firmware:

http://www.magictv.com/nz/downloads/mtv3700_6_07NZbeta.zip

Unzip this to a FAT32-formatted USB flash drive.  Plug it into the Magic TV, then perform Settings -> System -> Firmware Upgrade.

If you still experience -2 error when making a booking for a channel that is not currently being watched, please switch to that channel first, wait a little while then retry.

hi,thanks for that I tried but may have the wrong model number as I couldn't get firmware to upgrade.couldnt find model number in owners manual but current firmware is mtv3600 3-1 nz so if you have a firmware upgrade for this it would be greatly appreciated thanks

I do have a mtv3700 but I'm a little unsure about downloading beta software although i presume it will be officially released soon.

MTV3600TD is an older model released in 2009.

This firmware is marked as a beta because it requires users to test it.

If this firmware is tested to be working correctly in Nelson area, and remaining issues are found to be a transmission problem instead of a firmware issue, then this firmware will be renamed as official without any other actual change.

If further issues are found and fixed, another beta firmware will be released.

6.07 Beta2 firmware:

To make a booking for a channel:

1. Please switch to that channel (or mux) first.

2. Then wait for a few minutes.

3. Finally bring up the EPG to make the booking.

Hi All, I have installed and tested both 6.07beta and 6.07beta2 and both solve the EPG recording issue, but introduce power on issues in that the unit simply hangs and will not turn on and needs to be powered off and on at the wall to resolve.  I also noticed that when time slipping or watching a recording the fast forwarding seemed to jump all over the place.  I swapped back to 6.06 as I found these new issues unbearable.  I have given this feedback to Dish TV and they are working through this and giving great feedback so full credit to them.

Cheers

Thanks for that, think I'll hold off downloading the firmware for a bit, hope they get the remaining issues sorted soon but it sounds like they are on the right track.

Thanks for the feedback.  I have not yet received Dish TV's relay of this result you sent them.  Please confirm that 6.07beta2 still has the power on issue.  This beta2 has already removed a change for HDMI introduced in beta1, which I suspect might have caused the power on issue you're seeing.  If 6.07beta2 doesn't solve this problem, then my guess is wrong.

Please also let me know the brand and model of your TV.

Hi, I can confirm that 6.07beta2 still has the same power on issue (plus the skipping during playback issue).  I have a Samsung UA46D7000 46" LED TV about 18 months old.  It is worth noting that the power on issue is when I turn the STB on with or without the TV powered on so I am not sure if the TV is even relevent in this instance?, but I am certainly not an expert here.

hi mines the mtv 3600 and it appears to be working properly again, just for the last 2 days .is everyone elses working again .was it just an epg fault that's now fixed.thanks

HI, I've just tried recording from the epg on my mtv 3700 and still getting the code-2 errors, I hear the latest firmware may have fixed the problem but not too keen on downloading beta software if it is going too cause the power on/off issues that I've heard about.
