I just bought a new Samsung TV with dual UHF and Satellite tuner (model: UA48H6400) and can't get satellite tuner to pick up any freeview satellite stations.  It keeps saying there is no signal.

I've borrowed a Sky box and it can pick up the signal fine using the same coax cable (with HDMI back to the TV).

I think the Satellite dish/LNB might be quite old so I changed the settings in the TV to 10750MHz on the Optus D1 satellite, ran the autotune again and it picked up a SkyTV test pattern but no channels.

I called Samsung support and the woman I spoke to said Samsung TV's only have UHF Freeview! agghh. The Samsung website even advertises the dual tuner being built for NZ.

Has anybody been able to get the satellite tuner to work on a Samsung TV?

Any ideas on what other settings I could change?

Thanks!

OK I've had another play around with the manual settings and managed to get something that worked and picked up 16 TV channels and 4 radio channels!

I changed the following settings:

Menu -> Broadcasting
-> Aerial = Freeview Sat
-> Channel Settings
->-> Country = New Zealand
->-> Satellite System (enter your PIN - default code is 0000)
->->-> LNB Power = On
->->-> LNB Settings
->->->-> Satellite = Optus D1 160E
->->->-> Transponder = 12483 MHz, H/L
->->->-> DiSEqC Mode = Off
->->->-> LNB Type = Single Oscillator
->->->-> LNB Oscillators = 10750 Mhz
->->->-> Tone 22 kHz = Off

In the bottom right corner of the screen you should see the Signal Quality.  Mine was hovering around 55-57%

Go back to the main broadcasting menu then select "Auto Tuning"

Hope this helps others.

Jake

You probably had tone set to ON which set the LNBF to switch to Optus C1 hence the test pattern that you saw the first time.

We had the same problem but we followed your tip and it worked for us too. Thanks so much for posting!!! (Samsung helpline couldn't give us this answer!)
