Ok here is my problem, I have a FreeView box installed in my car and all has been working fine up until a couple of weeks ago, when you do a auto scan it finds the TVNZ and Mediaworks mux on CH32 and 34 but when the tuner hits the Kordia Mux (CH36) it stops (as it should do) looks for the channels then carries on but has not detected the channels on that Mux. Now if I do this on manual tune the Mux is a solid 100% (CH36 594.000Mhz) it looks for the channels but comes up with nothing??
The problem is only with the Kordia mux. The tuner was working fine on the Kordia mux unit I went to retune for CTV. Have tried two other tuners and they are doing the same thing.

UPDATE: Rung FreeView and I am not the first person to complain about this, they are going to email Kordia and let them know....

Hi Mike,

CTV was only launched this week but you mentioned the receiver was working fine up until a couple of weeks ago???

Could the aerial alignment have been changed a couple of weeks ago?  Usually a dropping out of an entire MUX points to aerial issues.

I believe Kordia & the broadcaster are investigating solutions to an isolated issue around Panasonic TVs not displaying pictures for CTV (not the entire Kordia MUX!)...

Hi, the issue does seem to be with the Kordia mux as i am in the electronics
industry, also these tuners are an in-car mobile tuners using 2 diversity
antenna’s with a 20db amp built in signal strength on all 3 mux’s are 100%. We
have tried 3 tuners in the workshop on a proper outdoor antenna they are also
doing the same thing. I have Sony PlayTV at home as well and it is suffering
from the same thing as well. Like I have already said when on auto or manual
tune it finds the Kordia mux stops and looks for the channels but then comes up
“0” TV and “0” radio. The other interesting thing is the tuner in my car was
fine on Kordia until I did a retune to add CTV.

Cheers

Mike

Good to see you on here Mike.

And we are now at Friday afternoon 22/3/13 13:16 and still no Video from CTV on channel 40 RF channel 36.  It's now getting a little old one would have thought the problem would have been sorted by now time for a trip to my TV supplier for a replacement set that works.

Hi Ross, can't believe as of this morning the Kordia mux is STILL playing up!!

May make a few phone calls

Cheers

Mike

Hi Mike that sounds like a good idea.  I have certainly made my fair share of calls in the last week.

Smiths city weren't happy when I suggested they replace my TV with one that could receive a legitimate freeview channel as my Panasonic bought from them couldn't.

One comment made during the conversation is that he was aware of the problem, but proffered the thought that perhaps what CTV is sending to the MUX may not be up to standard.

Interesting point I guess.  The old story rubbish in rubbish out.

Putting all that aside though you would have thought that some robust testing would have been done before going live last Monday.

Seems to be more than one problem on the Kordia mux, some tuners are not finding anything on that mux so there seems to be something oddball going on. Have a tuner on my bench at the moment scans both the TVNZ and MediaWorks mux’s 100% and finds all the channels, when it hits the Kordia mux it stops (100% signal) but does not find anything and after around 20 to 30 seconds carries on scanning.....
Hey have you rung both FreeView and Kordia if so who where you speaking to?
Cheers
Mike

Hi once again Mike.

I can't remember who I was talking to but I have definitely rung both.  Interestingly as of about 1705 when I checked on my Panasonic Channel 40 is now viewable.  When I first saw it I couldn't believe my eyes thought it must have been coming through my PVR but it is switched off.

May just tempt fate and do a retune though and see if anything else of interest shows up on RF channel 36.  Just completed that and it is still there and still in RF 36.

Looks like progress at last.

Interesting, just rang the guys at TCC even thought
I reported the above fault well over a week ago with FreeView TCC had no record
of it, they where very thankful I rang and are going to escalate the fault and
get someone onto it straight away......

I wasn't getting channel 40 on a rescan yesterday morning so I rang CTV and talked to Steve yesterday arvo and he said they had been working with Kordia to resolve the Panasonic issue. He wasn't aware of the mux problem but said they had changed some equipment an hour before and suggested a rescan. Rescanned while talking to him on a Sanyo TV out Islington way and bang there it was. So it looks like whatever both CTV and Kordia have done has fixed the Mux problem and based on Ross's result has fixed the Panasonic problem too.

Hi Andrew yes CTV issue is fixed but other issue with some tuners not finding any channels within the Kordia mux is still not fixed.

Cheers

Mike

Yep and as per my previous post in another thread there are still problems with the program guide.

Both my Panasonic and magic TV units program guides end at 29th of April for CTV whilst they continue on for other channels.

And once again I can't book anything for recording on the MAGIC TV unit.  This is a backward step.

Mike might be the particular brand & model you're using - just hazarding a guess here of course, have you contacted the manufacturer / distributor of the tuners?

Because as I understand it, there's been no other reports of any issues with the entire Kordia MUX. So just thought it's good to explore all options that's all....
