I'm another one who is taking the plunge and getting rid of Sky. I basically want everything my MySky does, but without the cost and all the channels I don't watch. I currently have a Sky dish only - no UHF aerial. Not sure whether my TV has in-built Freeview.
My question is: what can I get with Freeview satellite only, that will give me what I want (recordable, live pause, etc), or is it more advisable to just get a UHF aerial and FreeviewPlus. I'd rather the first option as I can't see me using OnDemand and getting a UHF aerial set up will cost more, but at the same time I don't want an inferior replacement of MySky.

Hi Roger
The first thing to check if you can actually receive Freeview via the UHF aerial, just enter in your address here: http://www.freeviewnz.tv/get-freeview/get-freeview/
If you can receive Freeview HD and want to watch TV One, TV2, TV3 in High Definition (what MySky Offers) and receive more channels than Freeview's Satellite offering then I suggest getting a MyFreeviewPlus or MyFreeviewHD unit which allows you to do the same as a MySky with series linking, recording, live pause etc..
The aerialBox T2200 offers MyFreeview recording with the optional feature of catching up OnDemand.
If you can only receive Freeview Satellite or/and Freeview HD and want to make the most of your Satellite Dish without any further costs then a MyFreeview Satellite is the best option for you, there are arrange of MyFreeview Satellite Options available with the 2015 models providing additional features of OnDemand catch-up, apps and 1TB built in hard drive space the equivalent of the MySky+ decoder, some of these brands are the Dish TV satBox S8200 and Zygo but you can find out more about MyFreeview Satellite here with a range of options and products to have a look at here:

Let me know if you need any further information about Freeview's offering.
Kind Regards, Joshua
Firstly - What brand and model is your TV?
Secondly - As you live in Auckland you'd be silly not to go UHF so you can take advantage of FreeviewHD. The HD picture quality is far superior to the rubbishy SD quality from satellite.
I've got a Panasonic Model# :TH-L37S252.
I think you are right about UHF. Just have to bite the bullet and fork out on a new aerial.
See Network Status page for updates.
