Hi - I have a HDD recorder - Panasonic Model DMR-EH58.
We bought a Freeview box, and we're getting the digital TV ok, but are so far unable to record digital.
Not sure if this is because we don't know what we're doing, or if it can't be done.
Any clues would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I used to have the same recorder and a STB. Connect the composite A/V outputs on the STB to the composite A/V inputs on the recorder then select AV input on the recorder. It will then record OK.

OK
In layman's terms. Your STB has red white and yellow sockets on the back panel. Connect these to the red white and yellow input sockets on the recorder. With the recorder remote select AV input and you should then be able to record. I can't remember which button to use on the remote as various models use different remotes and selection is not always obvious. e.g. on my latest remote multiple presses on the input select button cycles thru the various inputs although the manual doesn't say to press multiple times. You can only record Freeview on that Panasonic model from an external source such as a STB because the recorder doesn'thave a digital tuner.
Once you've done this, connect the recorder to the TV using the red white and yellow output sockets to the red white and yellow inputs on the TV so you can watch what you record. If your TV has component video connections (red blue green) then use these for better picture quality.
All these connections should be shown in the TV and STB manuals.
