Hi Paul and Josh,
I can get all the way correctly to #9 Press the Blue button to scan at which point it brings up a window that has four lines:
Polarization - Horizontal or Vertical
Network Search - off or on
Channel Type - All or FTA
Scan Type - Manual, Auto or Blind
I can only keep Horizontal if I choose a Blind Scan, otherwise it switches itself to Vertical.
So I went with
Polarization - Both
Network Search - On
Channel Type - FTA
Scan Type - Manual.
Then it asked if I wanted to save the changes and I pressed YES.
AND IT WORKED!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH. :)
Prime is now on channel 28
Four plus 1 is on channel 29
Edge is on channel 30.

I expect the serviceman (who sent me on to the wholesalers) who sold me the Ultraplus (this company's response to me was more for a technician) has sold quite a few of them around Hamilton, so there must be more people needing this information.
Plus I see Paul that you have helped people with the Hills HSMX-200 which 1000's of 75 yrs plus superannuates all over NZ would have received as part of the freeview update a couple of years back. So they may all be floundering with this problem. One of my neighbours has one, so I'll pass on your good deed to her. Cheers, Christine. :)
Cheers
Christine.
Try this (I don't own this receiver just tried to figure it out from the manual)
1. Menu
2. Installation
3. Transponder List
4. Press the SAT button on remote to select Optus D1
5. Press the Red key (Add) Adds a new transponder
6. Frequency enter 12519
7. Symbol rate enter 22500
8. Polarization = H
9. Press the Blue button to Scan
Let me know if this works or any steps are missing.
