Afternoon Sandra

The issue might be to do with your LNB (the machine at the front, as it ages the frequencies drift away causing the Zinwell unit to not recognise the correct signal) Graham has provided additional information on his drop box about this problem and you can access this here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/99ijdy2d5vkvke5/AADVgsgjzpYorVRaQyUPKxVM...

Please do let me know if this helps the issue, if this does work it is recommended you purchase a new LNB from an installer or Trademe and get the current one replaced. (additional info on what a LNB is can be found here: http://freeviewforum.co.nz/forum/topics/freeview-satellite-adjustin...

This link to my Dropbox may work better than the one in the previous message:

Have a look at the document "ZMX-7500 No Signal.pdf"

Thanks Josh and Graham. So now I have channels but not group 1 channels. So no tv1 or tv2.

Sounds like you may need a new LNB. TV1 and 2 etc usually first to go when it's failing. Adjusting the skew slightly may help.

Hi Sandra,

In case you missed this in my Dropbox here is some information I wrote some time ago relating to this issue. (If the channels you didn't have at the start of all this were only Four+1, Prime & The Edge TV then you will need further advice as these aren't restored by normal auto tuning)

ZMX-7500 – TV1 & TV2 Missing

This symptom usually occurs when the LNB (the thing on the end of the arm) is out of alignment.   If this is the case you should also be missing TV1+1, TV2+1 and Maori as they are all on the same transponder frequency (TP) 12483 as TV1 & TV2.

Loss of these channels occurs because there is an interfering signal on the opposite aerial polarity and if the rotation adjustment of the LNB is poor then this interfering signal can prevent reception of the channels on the 12483 TP (or cause them to be intermittent).

Although realignment is best carried out by an installer with the appropriate alignment meter or signal analyser (not a DSE signal finder), if you are handy with a screwdriver and a spanner and the dish is accessible you may be able to fix it yourself.

Looking at your dish you will notice that the cable comes out of the LNB at about the 8 o’clock position.  Over time the weight of the cable can cause the LNB to turn slightly, most likely in an anti-clockwise direction.   Before attempting to rotate the LNB in its mount, mark its current position so that you can get it back if you lose the rest of the channels.   Rotate the LNB about 1mm at a time and recheck to see if the TVNZ channels have returned.   If you have already tried an *Auto or Manual Scan then you will need to carry out a Restore to Defaults (see separate instructions) every time you make an adjustment until the TVNZ channels are restored.    The LNB rotation should be adjusted so that the green signal quality bar is as high as possible (i.e. close to 100%).  It is better to sacrifice the signal quality on the non-TVNZ channels if you need to as the 12456 TP doesn’t have the same interference problem.   The yellow signal strength bar is not so important but will probably be in the region of 65 to 75% (typically 70) depending on the diameter of your dish.

If you decide to call an Installer to fix this for you, I recommend having the LNB replaced, especially if you think it is more than 5 years old.    The cost of a new LNB is probably less than the cost of a second callout fee if your existing LNB fails a few months later.

(*After an Auto or Manual scan the original tuning data for the TVNZ channels will have been deleted from the memory of your receiver if these channels weren’t detected during the scan)
