Hi , I got a zeatek HD8000 pvr box , uhf aerial and a philips fish bowl tv with a booster too.

Ive unhooked the vhf aerial at the juction box  , dialed in the zeatek and only get 1/5 th of the screen pic and scrammbled audio ,green blocks etc.

do I need to get a dish ? or do I need to play darre devil and move the aerial around?

according to freeview site waiheke is dodgie with reception  . Ive already read some of the posts about people being ripped off by $450 or so .

I went to menu = settings , factory reset . there doesnt seem to be diagnostics, maybe there is and I havent seen it.

cheers willy

Sounds like you have an antenna problem. Your UHF antenna should connect directly to your STB by a single run of good quality rg6 co-ax. What do you mean when you say you have "unhooked the VHF at the junction box"? Is the junction box still in line? Is anything else connected to it? Reception may be dodgy depending on your location on the Isaland. You may have to point at one of the infill transmitters.

Pinehill Auckland Horizontal 28 (530MHz) 32 (562MHz) 40 (626MHz)

Hi , I removed the wire labeled VHF in the splitter box on the aerial .  weve always had a booster .   with out the booster the freeview box doesnt recieve any signal .    I just had a look at the nieghbours tv , the dish is facing north west . Their reception is good .   I may try turning the aerial in the mean time , reality is Ill probably get a dish.

thanks Willy

Check out your booster too as it may be a VHF one and not suitable at UHF although if it had VHF and UHF inputs it should be OK and removing the VHF input is the correct way to go. Actually removing the VHF antenna may also help as there can be interaction between the two which can upset reception.  However if you are indeed in a marginal area you may have to go to Satellite reception. Theoretically though, if you can receve one mux you can probably get the rest with a bit of antenna manipultion. Quite often its just a matter of finding the "sweet spot" on the roof. Your best option is to get in a pro with the proper equipment to check signal strength and advise your best option. Satellite dishes always point NW (about 315 degres) because that's where the satellite is (about 160E). UHF on the other hand is best pointing to the Transmitter that gives best signal in your location.

at the moment TV1 is comming thru clear......as always the ads are beauuutiful and clear but the TV1 doco program is a bit sketchy now and then so theres definitely life in this thing yet

I had the idea to remove the vhf aerial as its a conductor it may aswell be out of the picture , so thats the next thing

What does the signal level quality say?

yes remove the old VHF even if the wire has been cut.

this gonna sound terrible after reading some of the trouble people are having. I removed vhf aerial and didnt change the direction of uhf aerial at all .

I figured a pro set it up in the 1st place ......dont fix it if it aint broke!! I got all channels , I had to reset a few times late at night but otherwise .....doin pretty good .

I recommend any one = dont mess with the direction of uhf aerial , its up there and been doing its job for years.

thanks guys been helpful and confirmed a few ideas that sprang to mind

cheers willy
