viewsat software upgrade

Hi im looking at getting a software upgrade for the viewsat digital satelite reciever  PVR12. I can downloas a movie etc to a usb stick and it works, but when I use a  portable harddrive it say it cant detect the device.

It is an older unit but it did work before.I have another type of digital reciever and the new portable harddrive works in that.

It may be that your PVR unit requires an externally powered USB HDD. The USB in the unit may not be able to supply sufficient current to operate a portable USB HDD. With most PVRs it is preferable to use USB HDDs that have an external power supply.

interesting comment and worth considering, but it did work in the past. I have another PVR model which works with the same portable hard drive.
