Have STB connected to VCR/DVD combo unit connected to analogue TV.Everything works fine except for VCR recording. After setting VCR to record either REC or Timer REC and then viewing I can only see approx. 5 mins and then TV screen is blank.

Can anyone help please.

If you are using an HDMI connection the video will blank after a short time because of the HDCP (copy protection mechanism) required by the Movie/TV copyright owners on all Freeview approved appliances.

I understand that MySky HD decoders have the same copy protection.

If you use the standard AV connection (non HD) this should work ok.  Alternatively there may be a non-approved Freeview STB model that you can record from or you can use a DTV decoder card in a PC for recording.

Thanks Graham.Using regular connections(red/white/yellow).Can you elaborate more on DTV decoder card.Do not want to get another STB.Seriously think it best to move to new TV and recorder.Such a pain as existing equipment still in very good order.

.

What is the make and model of your STB ?

Paul it is UHF Aerial Dish TV Model T1000

Sounds like it might be a problem with the DVD/VCR combo detecting embedded copy protection or similar in the transmission although I've had no problem with this since about April last year. All it did on my Panasonic recorder though was just stop me from copying recorded files to my PC via WiFi network. Before April I couldn't copy HD programs, after April I could. What model of DVD/VCR?

Biggles it is Panasonic NV-VP32 series.

Probably time to update to a Panasonic Freeview Recorder? My VCRs haven't been used for about 7 yrs now except for copying Home Movies to the PC HDD.

Hi Geoffrey

Sorry about the delay in replying.  I don't know much about the Tuner cards other than several of my friends are successfully using them to record programs.

I have a couple of older USB DTV dongles which I have used for recording programs ok but they are probably less convenient to use than a capture card
