Hi,

Yesterday (1st Feb) I recorded Kung Fu Panda 2 from TV3 on my Magic Tv box (MTV3700TD), & when I went to watch it, the following message came up:

"This video is copyright protected. Please play it on the recording unit.".

Has this happened to anyone else?

How do I fix it?

This has never happened before.

Was it recorded on internal HDD or external USB HDD?

How is your recorder connected to the TV?

It was recorded via My Freeview onto Magic TV, which is connected to my tv by an HDMI cable. (My tv does not have freeview pre-installed).

OK. So if it was recorded on the internal HDD and playback was to TV via HDMI then I see no reason why it should fail to play due to copyright restrictions. Very strange.

Perhaps you could try using the composite A/V output to TV (instead of HDMI) which would only display SD quality, not HD, but it may work.

Have just tried that, doesn't help :(

Thanks anyway.

The recorded programme on the HDD could be corrupted.

Please try Settings -> Recording -> Advanced -> Check and Repair System HDD.  This may take a few hours.  While this will not cure the already corrupted recording(s), let's hope the same problem does not reappear in the future.

Thanks

Will do that :)
