TVNZ One Plus 1 - Timer recording wants to use TVNZ One instead

I recently purchased a Panasonic DMR-PWT530 BD Player/HDD Recorder.

I wanted to record a TVNZ One Plus 1 program which the guide says it scheduled for 11:40pm. However, I immediately had an overlap issue and it was because the Panasonic had decided to start the recording at 10:40pm using TVNZ One.

I have searched previous threads but have't come across a similar issue (perhaps wrong key words).

PS I have the latest Panasonic update.

does it show the right time?

if not it may think its in another time zone check the timezones in the setup menus

otherwise restore to shipping condition and try again

still have your receipt?

I did a bit of testing over the weekend.

1) Time is correct. Daylight Saving is ON

2) Didn't come across a timezone. Anyway, other time recordings start OK.

3) Significantly (to me), if I choose a TVNZ Plus 1 program I see the 'S' against the program and against the same program (an hour earlier) in the TVNZ One Guide. The Timer Recordings screen only shows the TVNZ One program to be recorded.

If I delete the TVNZ One recording, it then it also deletes the TVNZ One Plus 1 time recording.

I cannot believe that is common practice when using a Freeview approved box.

4) I did get a TVNZ One Plus 1 timer recording. I didn't know why at the time, but I suspect it was because the TVNZ One program had already started.

5) Is there a setting to stop a repeat from being recorded. I haven't come across such a setting. I have a couple of NZ TiVo's and it has such a (very useful) setting.

6) I haven't done a restore to shipping condition yet. I had a brief look at the options and I think I can do a reset without losing my un-watched recorded programs.

I have the Panasonic BW720 and this seems to be normal. Mine does it too. If I set to record a program (say One) after the normal start time it will record the One Plus channel. I actually haven't tried to set for the +1 channel before the normal channel start time but guess it would do what yours did. Annoying because there's only stereo sound and no HD on the +1 channels. It will do what you want though if you use timer record instead. I don't know if it's a Panasonic "thing" or a Freeview "thing" that causes the problem. If set to series record it shows the red record icon for both normal and plus 1 channels but only records the normal channel.  I don't think it's possible to set series record for the plus 1 channels only.

Daylight saving should be off,, ,until 28/9
May be causing a time shift
What happens when you hit record?

" It will do what you want though if you use timer record instead"

I assume you are referring to setting a timer record manually i.e. I supply the start time.

"If set to series record it shows the red record icon for both normal and plus 1 channels but only records the normal channel."

I actually see a yellow 'S'.

Sorry my mistake (I did the message from memory).

Time is 'ON'. To get the time from somewhere. It is correct.

Daylight Saving is 'Automatic'.

"What happens when you hit record?"

Whereabouts?

Just giving you heads up that I am going to post a topic on the www.geekzone.co.nz site (Freeview forum), just in case someone sees my post.

I feel a bit cheated over this issue and something I never expected.

PS Anyone know how to stop repeats from being recorded e.g. Sometimes, one of the TV stations will run an 'encore' session of a program broadcast earlier in the week. As mentioned, the TiVo can stop repeats.

It's the last time I reply when I am not physically sat in front of the TV.

I do have a red [S] (not yellow)

Stop repeat recordings by using timer record.

Yes. Set start and finish times allowing adequate time before and after program times (to allow for early starts and long overruns) for each program either once only, daily or weekly. This also overcomes the problem of breaks in EPG due to updates, back to back series and changes of program day etc which will break the EPG series record link which is a Freeview EPG problem and nothing to do with the recorder.

Be aware the EPG is only a guide and can't always be relied upon. Timer record is totally reliable.

Found this on Geekzone: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=83&topicid=133593

It is the same issue I have mentioned.
