scrambled channels

I'm new to this freeview box thing. I've baught a DTVS-DRS1 second hand! It is a satellite receiver and had no problems hooking it up. On the start up auto scan it has found me 27 channels that actually work! But all the rest , like sports and discovery and all are scrambled stations. Is this normal?

Yes. Sports and Discovery etc are Sky TV channels for which you need a Sky Subscription and decoder. You obviously didn't do a FTA scan during setup. That would have found only the free channels.

Delete all the scrambled channels and then check the radio channels and you will find that you will have around 10 unscrambled stations that can be listened to , then delete all of the scrambled ones
