Hi,

I used to have my LNB set at 12456 MHz and everything worked fine for over a year. Then I started having reception problems. Samsung (UA40J5500) helpdesk told me to reset the TV, which did nothing of course. Then I had to re-enter all the LNB settings and I remember it kept reverting to a slightly different MHz, even though I kept trying to put it back at 12456. I thought that was wierd at the time but didn't think any mroe about it. The reception was okay for a while and then lots of channels started dropping off. Then most of the time I couldn't get most channels. Now I can rarely get any.

I went back into the LNB setting screen and it keeps ejecting me from the LNB menu. Thus far I was assuming that I had dish alignment problems but it now occurs to me that maybe the LNB is dying, which would explain why the TV keeps kicking me out of the LNB setting screen???

thanks in advance,

p

I think you may be confusing your frequencies. LNB frequencies are normally 10750 or 11300 with 10750 being the most common.

12456 is the frequency for one of the Freeview MUX on the satellite transponder.

A LNB with a freq of 12456 just wouldn't work.

Go back to your LNB setting and enter either 10750 or 11300.

If that doesn't work then your LNB is most likely dead. When your LNB is dying it can often be brought back to life temporarily by raising or lowering the freq slightly in say 5mhz increments.

Oh. Okay......Yeah, you're right I'm talking about the transponder setting. My settings were:

country NZ
LNB Power On
LNB Settings
Sattelite Optus D1 160E
Transponder 12456 MHz, H/L
DisEqC Mode Off
LNB Type Dual
Lower LNB Oscillator 10750MHz
Upper LNB Oscillator 10750 MHz
Tone 22 kHz Off

I just went in (it didn't kick me out of the menu at the mo because the reception seems okay - about 60%) and I changed the transponder back to 12456 and exited. But when I go back in it has changed itself back to 12483!

Any idea why it kicks me out of the menu when I have no reception?

Did you do a scan after changing the transponder frequency? I'm guessing you have to do a scan to add that transponder's channels to your lineup and save them. I'm not familiar with Sat TV Tuners but probably a factory reset and then setup as if it's a new TV would restore all channels except the non Freeview ones (Prime, Bravo etc which are on the Sky transponders) that need to be added manually. Also in the menu check your signal strength and quality to check if your LNB is OK. Low values may indicate it is dying and needs replacing. Might be time to call in a Pro to sort it all out?

Ooops. Just re-read your post and see you did report signal strength so LNB looks to be OK.

Yeah but like I say, mostlly I can't get any channels, and when I try to go into the LNB settings (when I can't get any channels) it keeps kicking me out after a few seconds before I can even try to change any setting. That's why in the OP I ask whether maybe that is a sign of a dying LNB.
