Sorry to bug you guys on this but I can't find help anywhere else. 

I have a Samsung hybrid TV (Model UA32J5500) and have installed a satellite dish. The dish is about 80cm and was second hand but in good shape. This is a new installation...never had TV before. I get a message "Satellite signal not found." 

I've installed a new LNB and adjust the skew to where the plug side aims approximately at 8:00 on the dish. 

I aimed the dish using a satellite finder and have the azimuth and elevation set to 340 and 41 degrees, respectively. It seems to me I've aimed it pretty accurately.

I've adjusted the LNB settings to as follows: 

Menu -> Broadcasting 
-> Aerial = Freeview Sat
-> Channel Settings
->-> Country = New Zealand
->-> Satellite System (enter your PIN - default code is 0000)
->->-> LNB Power = On
->->-> LNB Settings
->->->-> Satellite = Optus D1 160E
->->->-> Transponder = 12483 MHz, H/L
->->->-> DiSEqC Mode = Off
->->->-> LNB Type = Single Oscillator
->->->-> LNB Oscillators = 10750 Mhz
->->->-> Tone 22 kHz = Off 

But still no signal.  I talked to Samsung support about this and the only thing they couldn't figure out was what region I should be tuned to. I think the person I spoke to wasn't in New Zealand and couldn't tell me which region I should select. I'm on the top of the South Island and have tried all the regions on the South as well as Wellington with the same results. Any ideas out there?  

I've checked my coax connector and they look good...to me, anyway.  

So...I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?

I think you got azimuth wrong. Should be about 318 magnetic in your area.

Sorry to piggyback on your thread but we are having similar issues with getting no signals.

We also have a Samsung J5500 TV and have the same settings as yours (our default was 11300 but neither 10750 nor 11300 is finding anything for us)

I am not as technically advanced as you are so I haven't physically adjusted the satellite's azimuth and elevation settings. Is this essential to receive the signals? How can I find out what settings we need and can this be done from the TV rather than going to the roof to physically adjust the dish?

We are located in Wellington

If the dish was previously working then it's not advisable to adjust azimuth and elevation as it is unlikely to have shifted. Then it should only be adjusted using a good quality sat finder.

The previous owner told us that it's a Sky dish - we don't have Sky but were told that the dish can be used for freeview - in that case do we need to adjust the settings?

No need to touch the dish. Sky and Freeview are on the same satellite.  If the LNB is still OK then just follow tuning procedure in your TV manual. If that doesn't work then the LNB may need replacing.

Hi, Im trying to do satellite scan from my DishTV S7070r and it says tuning failed. I have satellite dish from the Sky TV that I had 4 months back. Sky TV was working fine, but cannot understand why the decoder is not able to scan the channels. Can you please advise if there are any settings that I need to follow.

thanks, turns out I just need to switch Tone 22kHz setting from auto to off but thanks for your help, much appreciated
