Hi we recently bought a new flatscreen tv with Freeview UHF built in & hooked it up to our digital satellite receiver. Receiver starts up ok & tv turns on with NO SIGNAL message. Do we need to upgrade our top box?

How have you connected the TV to your satellite receiver? What model TV and does it have built in Satellite Tuner as well as UHF (a lot of new models have satellite) or UHF only?
I see from your profile you are not in a FreeviewHD area (Opotiki) so you will not be able to receive UHF HD. You should be connecting the TV to your STB via HDMI, Component or Composite cables and selecting the appropriate input on the TV. If as your profile says you have a Kaon STB then it doesn't have HDMI so you will need a SCART to Component or Composite cable to connect to the TV and select Component or Composite input on the TV.
PS. The Kaon looks like it may also have rf out. If so you could connect rf out to TV rf in and search for the channel with the inbuilt analogue tuner but the picture would probably be pretty bad.
Thanks for your reply. TV is Panasonic TH-32C400Z. Doesn't look like it has satellite. Only bought it yesterday, but can't see any mention of satellite receiver. I have connected the receiver to the tv exactly the same as for the old tv. I think it is a composite cable - red, white & yellow plugs on single cable. Sorry not up with tech terms. We did try to connect the RF cable to the tv aerial terminal, but it didn't match up with the fitting on the tv. i'm wondering whether the Kaon is outdated for a Freeview UHF tv?
OK. No inbuilt satellite tuner. Yellow (composite) red and white (audio) cables to TV is fine. You just need to select AV in with the TV remote and it should work. Any TV is fine with your STB as long as you have the correct connections and select the correct input.
Check pg 8, 9, 11 of your TV manual. Use the AV button on the remote and then select AV in the input menu.
You can find operating instructions here

Could be getting somewhere! I used AV button & got a short menu. Okayed HDM1 but got the old NO SIGNAL again !1 Anyway i feel a bit more confident now & will check out the Panasonic link. I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks
You need to OK AV in the menu. Not HDMI 1 or HDMI 2 or TV.
Ok thanks, but still get no signal message. I'm goimg to get the guys at the shop to come out on Monday. I thought it would be pretty simple haha. Thanks anyway. Managed to get freeview channels with the the no signal icon flashing in top left corner. Jiggling the RF cable got us a brief picture, so that's the obvious problem I'd say.
Fixed the connection & now have moving pictures - but no sound!!
We have sound!! Thanks for all your help Biggles
