I previously brought an Akai TV with built in freeview, turns on fine but when I went to auto tune channels it goes through the process but can't find any channels and ends up saying no signal.

Is it something to do with my aerial? and not my TV?

Thanks!

Where did you buy the TV and is it a NZ model? I haven't seen Akai for sale anywhere in NZ. If it's not a NZ model it most likely won't work with our Freeview transmissions.

Try the Warehouse support line - 0800 422 274

Check this, they are selling them

OK. Good to seee another old brand back here again. What antenna are you using? Provided you have a UHF antenna and are locted in a Freeview Terrestrial coverage area it should work fine.

Already tried warehouse suppourt line she told me to try it a few times which I had done.

Yup using UHF antenna and live in town so have no idea what the problem could be?

go to manual scan and see if the frequency numbering changes in steps of 7 or 8 like 530.00-538.00 good  or 530.00-537.00 bad

Although you say you live in town, which town?

Have you checked your location here

http://www.freeviewnz.tv/coverage.aspx?pdf-maps=/userfiles/pdfs/Nel...

to confirm you have coverage?

For instance many places in Wellington are in UHF dead areas. If you do a manual tune for the channels in your area what signal strength if any shows on screen? Were you able to receive Prime and Maori TV when you were still using analogue?
