My parents have a 32 " LG LCD TV approx. 2 years old and over the last couple of days they have been getting a blue pop up message that they may lose some channels and may require a re tune, they have now lost all channels and the retune wont work either, its like the aerial is not connected however if I plug in the top box to the same aerial lead this works fine , anyone else had this problem ? They are on the North shore of Auckland and hooked up to a UHF aerial.

Is it more likely the fault in the TV or the aerial ?

Check the received signal strength on the STB and compare with the strength for the same channels on the TV. Could be the co-ax between the TV and the wall. Would be unusual for the TV Tuner to fail but it can happen. Could also be slow deterioration of the antenna system and the STB's Tuner may be more sensitive than the TV's Tuner. Loss of signal is nearly always an antenna problem.

Great thanks for the advice, I am going to try the TV on a known good UHF reception source also to try and figure out which component has failed.
