I thought I'd join for some after hours support with our FTA issue.

I've read a lot of forums here and decided that the single LNB required replacement to solve our rain fade and pixtel picture, buffing sound issue.

Perhaps its this simple, I replaced the 11300MHz with a 10750MHz (perhaps the wrong frequency one, so read these discussions and reset the top box as per instructions. (Dish S7070r)

TUNING Failed along with "no reception, check satellite"

Borrowed a good Satellite finder and cable, plugged it in according to the instructions, made some minor adjustments and got the Optus D1 to read Strength 69%  which is the same as before with old LNB. Got the Quality between 92% and 96% this is much better I think.  Removed the Sat finder and hooked everything up. Turned off the top box, did both blind scan and a Satellite Scan, nothing.. Carriers 5, services -  "Tuning failed". Checked the settings, followed some other forum instructions on searching only the horizontal polarisation. Still nothing found.

I am now at a loss, cables worked before, top box worked before and even the old LNB. New LNB worked on the Sat finder , Top box found strength and Quality on the Sat finder, disconnect it and expect hook it up to work with TV again after a tuning scan.

Also checked the Network has no issues.

Any ideas? I am at a loss now, we might put the old LNB back up as fine tuning the dish with the sat finder may've fixed some original issues. I may have taken the wrong advice on which LNB to fit, with the settings able to be changed, I shouldn't think this would be an issue.

cheers in advance for your necessary input, yours frustrated Freeview-less.

whats the skew angle?

varies between lnb s but usually has the cable connector at 45 deg to the left when youre looking into the dish

And what settings are you using in the PVR tuning?

Hi Willis,

The skew angle is 8 o'clock.  I've been told to move it to 6.30 position.

cheers

PVR ? - do you mean the Dish TV sat box as it is the only recording device in this set up. (P-ersonal V-ideo R-ecorder.

Um,.. satellite name Optus D1, angle 160.0, direction west, 12456H_22500 carrier 1, and carrier 2 = 12483H_22500, carrier 3 =12671H_22500, 4 12644H_22500 and 5  12707H_22500 (Is this what tuning you were referring too?

cheers

The LNB set up is KU band, 10750 low and 10750 high, 22kHz - OFF, DiSEqC - None, tone burst - None. Positioner - None, Power - On.

Hi all,

You know how we resolved this weird issue, put the old LNB back up and got it all good as gold and since we missed around with the satellite finder we now have better quality picture as I said its upto 98% better than the 71% before fine turning with the borrowed satellite finder.

Probably have to test/return the LNB as chinise faulty.

Cheers

KAZ

If the only difference in setup was the LNB freq then it looks like the new one is indeed a dud. Chinese quality control strikes again.
