Of course there's no signal. It's a satellite receiver and needs to be connected to a dish. It won't work on a UHF antenna.

I thought freeview was available with a UHF receiver as well as a satalite dish?

It is but you need a satellite dish for a satellite receiver and a UHF antenna for a Terrestrial receiver.

What does a Satelite cable look like? I've got two cables. One with s smaller pin in the middle and one with a thicker pin.....sorry i'm really freeview iliterate.

Well my cables look the same except one is white and the other is black. The white one to the satellite dish was installed by Sky and the black to UHF installed by me. Both have f connectors on the wall plates. f connectors have a small sharp pin in centre and normal Pal tv plugs have thicker pin. f connectors are better than Pal connectors.

Presumably you have a satellite dish and a UHF antenna on the roof then? If you are in a Freeview UHF reception area you should use a Terrestrial STB (or a Freeview TV) to make use of the HD signal. Satellite Freeview is only SD.

Translation: PAL tv plugs are called Belling-Lee connectors.

The thin-pinned cable should probably be the satellite dish that you need for the satellite decoder. The next step is to set the LNB frequency in your satellite receiver to match the LNB frequency of the dish. It's usually written on the LNB (in the centre of the dish on the metal arm).

If it gets too hard, don't hesitate to get an expert installer. They will sort it out and have the equipment and skill to make it reliable for you.
