Have a DTVS 1B - had to re set the box the other day as it lost all settings. Did a re-scan and everything works fine - in black and white. Cannot get a colour picture, TV works fine on all other inputs. Has my unit had a 'stroke'?

Hey Reckit

I suggest you try the following to see if you can get color back, the issue might be in the TV Display settings which the DTVS1B uses to output video.

  1. On your DTVS1B remote go to Menu
  2. Go to Installation then System Setup
  3. Head to TV Setup
  4. Toggle through the RF Mode and Display Mode and see if any color resumes when you change these settings.

If you are still having issues then head on over to http://www.dtvs.co.nz/index.php?main_page=contact_us&zenid=tnmq... to contact with DTVS directly as their technical team will be able to troubleshoot further with you.

I hope this information helps, if you need further assistance please do not hesitate to reply back.

Kind Regards
Joshua

How have you connected the box to the TV?

If you are using rf to connect to the TV then check the output from the box is PAL and not NTSC.

NTSC will give you a B&W picture on a PAL TV.

I am using the same RGB cables as I was before the reset. Have tried switching output from PAL to NTSC and back again. No difference.
Very strange. Wondering if it's something in the box asit is going on 7 years old.

OK so it's not NTSC output problem then. Just make sure all your cables are plugged in fully and in the correct sockets. Sometimes bad RGB (Component) connections can cause colour to drop out. If you try composite input from the box (yellow to yellow sockets) and the problem persists then I would suspect a problem with the box. Usually it's just a cable problem. It is a strange fault.
