It sounds like the LNB on your satellite dish is faulty. The LNB is the plastic receiver that points at the dish and picks up the signal. If it's an old sky dish with an oval shaped LNB on it it is probably failing and going off frequency. The best thing to do is to replace it with a new one. There is a bit of tweaking to do if you're going to replace it yourself. I would recommend getting an installer to do the job. They have the signal meters that can make it perfect and less likely to get rain fade. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply Mike,

If it is the LNB, would it not affect all signal coming into the dish? Does the signal for Prime work differently to all the other channels? Because Prime ALWAYS works. 

The only time we get any rain fade is when it is bucketing down, as in so heavy we can't even hear the TV.

if the lnb was going off frequency everything would be gone

Primes on a different frequency so can be affected differently to the other channels.

Not necessarily. Prime is on a different frequency where the tuner may be more tolerant of LNB drift.

Thanks for all the replies everyone.

Sounds like we may just have to get the technician in to sort it all out. We need a new UHF aerial too so might just get the whole system upgraded.

We will just have to live with it until then. Its not the end of the world as it is only TV. Life will go on.
