I have finally joined the FreeView Plus / OnDemand generation, buying a new set-top box in the Boxing Day Sales this year. I have a cheap AerialBox / DishTV T2100 which is now plugged in to my TV which had Freeview previously but without the Plus / FVOD option. One of the highlighted features of this device, (according to the packaging and all information I have read about it online) is the ability to "Personalise with your favourites". However, as yet I have been unable to work out how to do this.

The screenshot in the user manual, both the downloaded PDF file and the live manual on the device itself, does not accurately reflect what I am seeing on the device. The user manual (p.19) shows a heart icon on the left of the mini TV Guide, as in this screenshot, presumably which lists all your favourites. My device does not have that option in the interface at all, and there seems to be no way to add shows to my favourites list either. I can see the option to set a reminder, but no way to set a favourite, as such. I assume this has something to do with a subsequent software update. I have received two network or OTA firmware updates since I first plugged in my device. As the ability to favourite shows is a major advertised feature, I assume that the omission of such in this more recent upgrade, is an oversight or a bug. Please let me know when this feature will be restored to my device, so that it works as advertised. Thanks.

I have just heard back from Cameron at DishTV's Technical Support Desk, who has told me basically that the advertised FreeviewPlus feature of being able to mark and list your favourite shows, is no longer available under the new Freeview OnDemand, thanks to changes made by Freeview themselves.

Thank you for your email. The "Favourites" feature you are referring to, was available through the initial version of "FreeviewPlus". This has now been updated to "Freeview On Demand", as such many features have changed, been removed or added. Any promotional material, manuals and packaging that was printed or uploaded prior to this change made by Freeview, will indeed show some features like the "Favourites" that are no longer available.

To my mind, this is false / misleading advertising. Why would Freeview remove such an important, basic feature? Come on Freeview, give us back the ability to save our favourites!
